Alrighty folks! Grab your heads and reattach all body parts to original positions, it's time for another round of the Labyrinth swap! This will be a 3 pt swap, with three weeks to craft. If you'd like to send and receive a larger package, note this in your questionnaire, and I'll try to match you up, but no promises. The plan is to have another round once everyone is done, so don't over extend yourself to start with! Also keep in mind, I don't punish people who just want to spoil their partners, but spoilage is not expected, and may not be reciprocated. Remember to PM me and your partner on sending, receiving and in the event of RL interference. Let's keep this a nice, clean, quick fight swap, and I won't need to send anyone to the Bog.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Organising an ongoing swap on: February 12, 2012 01:45:17 PM
I am wrapping up the TM patch swap, and people have expressed interest in having a second round that runs a bit like the ongoing ATC, with posting of lists and claiming of partners. This seems like it would make my job easier, but also more complicated, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to make running one easier. Has anyone come up with a new format to the swap document to make things clearer for these sorts of swaps?

I had a lot of fun with this swap, and it was suprisingly painless for my first swap, especially such a large one, but the thought of juggling even more partners (this swap only had 3 each as a top limit) and multiple send out dates makes the Virgo in me a little freaked at how to document it all.

5  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Teesha Moore Patch Swap (SIGNUP 1/3/12-1/11/12 ; MAIL BY 2/7/12). on: January 02, 2012 08:36:13 PM

Feeling jealous of all the gorgeous quilted Teesha Moore style bags and crafts, but scared of how much work it would be to make one yourself? Perhaps handsewing intimidates you, or the number of patches needed seems overwhelming? Or maybe you think you couldn't be "random enough" for a whole project. This is the swap for you! The swap requirements are to make 2 patches for your partner, with the option of up to three partners (to make a total of 6 patches). I'm giving you three weeks for crafting, so we can have a nice, easy, toe-dip-in-the-water swap to start off the year. Extras are not required or expected, because this swap is designed for low postage, especially internationally, but if you and your partner would like to include extras, you are welcome to work that out between yourselves - of course, we'd still love to see photos!  Cheesy

Video tutorials from Teesha Moore on how to make the patches:
Fabric Journals part 1 of 4
Fabric Journals part 2 of 4
Fabric Journals part 3 of 4
Fabric Journals part 4 of 4

Machine embroidery is an option for those of you lucky enough to have the facilities, though if you choose to go that route I would suggest embroidering the top panel before assembling, and then quilting around it.

And what can you do with all those patches once you have them? Well... sheepBlue has made a notebook, a bag, another bag and some cuffs, (those cuffs would be a good starter project), yet another bag, again a bag, the first bag, a bird bag, two more bags, a Harry Potter bag, and a pillow. She's not the only one getting busy though - TheSapphireMoon made a TM stocking, Icekibby made a Wedding album, and a bag, and teachart has yet another bag with some really neat details. TurtlesOnAFence made a sketchbook cover, Phizzychick made a bunch of albums and folders, Sharalee made a purse, astormorray made a bag that seems a little simpler in construction than some of the others, but still just as effective (if you are feeling intimidated by now - I know I am!) and kriSmith even made a Nook cover.
craftylittlemonkey has made the cutest little pouches and best of all, they only take 2 or 3 squares! So even if you only take one partner, and don't make any extra for yourself, you can still get a finished project together!

Itching for your own gorgeous craft yet? Here are the details:

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Teesha Moore patch swap? on: December 27, 2011 05:43:53 PM
I'm sure I'm not the only one drooling over all the gorgeous bags and notebooks been made in this style, but I'm just not sure I have the "random" to make a whole one on my own.

Would anyone be interested in swapping ready made patches? We could specify preferred themes/shapes/sizes or just leave it completely open to randomness. One or two patches without extras would be pretty cheap to ship internationally too. I was thinking this could be one of those swaps where you have multiple partners, (*snicker*) to increase the randomness, so either a chain/claim style like the ongoing swaps, or a round robin/group type thing like the inchie swaps have?

Is anyone interested in joining in? I can organise, but I'm more than happy to hand off to someone who has organised before, as this seems like it could be a complicated one to pop my organiser's cherry on - though I'll give it a go if no one else wants to!
7  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Blanket Squares on: November 06, 2011 06:37:24 PM
Does anyone know of a local charity accepting squares for blankets? All the ones I can find are American, or in the UK. I'd like to help out by sending some squares for charity, but my wallet can't handle international postage on top of my swaps right now.
8  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Fans of Spotlight on Facebook on: September 20, 2011 02:29:24 AM
Did anyone else know they were running a competition on Facebook to win $100 gift cards?

Submit a photo of something you've made, and five entries will be drawn at random to win a gift card. Vote for your favourite projects, and the top 5 projects as voted by Spotlight fans also win a gift card. I'm sure we've got plenty of crafty projects amongst us to enter so I thought I'd share this info. It's been running since Sept 1st, and closes midnight Thursday, but the projects in the lead only have a bit over 100 votes, so it's still winable.

I'm sharing so everyone can enter (and get a shot at a gift card) but if you'd like to vote for my Jareth amigurumi from the last Labyrinth swap, well, I wouldn't mind that either!  Cheesy

Can't believe I missed the 30% off all yarn that was on until today too. Sad
9  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Jareth (from Labyrinth) on: April 20, 2011 05:57:11 AM
My partner in the Labyrinth swap received, so I can show off the Jareth I made her.

I made him by modifying the Dread Pirate Sam pattern. I added his bulge, and made the pants end higher up, and then freehanded a vest to go over his shirt. The ruffles were made up as I went along too.

His eyes, eyeshadow, and the colouring on his necklace were all done with metallic gel pens, the necklace itself was crocheted with white DMC floss and a 2mm hook.

Oh yes, and I had to make a Toby to go with him, or he might get antsy and start kidnapping other children!
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Exquisite Corpse rd 2? on: March 11, 2011 06:09:49 PM
I was going through the end pages of the swap ideas, and found the post that sparked the first Exquisite Corpse doll piece swap.

The gallery (what there was of it) garnered cries of 'me too!' but I couldn't find a second round for this seven year old swap... I can't organise one, but I'm sure there are crafty people out there that would like this to see the light of day again?
