My friend for whom I made the universe underwear a few months ago just had a space themed party so I made a basic black skirt and painted it. The fabric is very light and sheer so the paint is a bit crusty. I used acrylic paint with textile medium and lots of light layers.

I don't normally visit this board but holy moly there is some cool stuff being made!!  I want to make more toys now!!!
Okay so my boyfriend was getting jealous of the leopard I sleep with, and he loves cuttlefish so I made him one for his birthday!! I chose really evil fabric though, I wanted it to change colours a bit the way real cuttlefish do so I got this chiffon that changes from green to pink depending on how you hold it, and then some snakeskin printed stretch fabric to go under it. They were such a pain to sew together, the chiffon is so slippy! But I'm really pleased with how the fabric looks, so it was worth it.

Anyone who has been paying attention to fashion lately will have noticed all the universe inspired fabrics being used. Well I have a friend who LOVES any space prints and it is her birthday party this friday so I decided to paint her universe underwear. I got her to pick out the undies and she picked these high waisted granny pants to give me a bigger canvas. I was extremely nervous and now quite unsure about the finished product, but this is how they turned out:

I study painting but this was totally out of my comfort zone. So I really hope that she likes them!!

This is my tree warrior dress. It has a cut out triangle boob hole, a cutout back with strap details, and pockets that hold wine bottles! It took so long to insert the zipper and place all the straps correctly without a dressform but the time and all the pin injuries I sustained were worth it.

The reason I need to have large, wine bottle sized pockets is that I regularly have tree picnics. Picnics in trees. I have started yarnbombing some trees in my city to hopefully encourage other people to do it too! I love trees!

I've made two other dresses of the same design, with the triangle between the breasts, but filled in for more casual wear. I've only worn the tree warrior dress once, to a dress up party, but I wear this orangey/greeny one a lot. I like that I don't need to wear a bra with them. This dress has bananas and watermelons printed on it and was made from an old skirt. I love the fabric!

I recently finished my first ever blanket, and first big crochet project!!





I'm really pleased with how it turned out, especially the kitschy fringe. The cheery colours make me so happy.



I'm so glad to be back into crocheting again, and now I've started some yarnbombing projects. I've figured out a way of making banners of text. So far I've only done 'picnic tree' signs (I like having picnics in trees) but I want to do more political messages. Any suggestions for some feministy/anti consumerism or other slogans?

Here are some of the dresses I've been making in my epically long and lazy summer holiday:




This is made from a leotard for the top, and some lizard printed fabric for the skirt. It has extra large pockets that fit wine bottles!


I call this the forest dress. it is made from a stretchy velveteen top, and some fabric I bought 5 years ago in the Netherlands! It's good to finally use it up!


This last one was made from a really strange velveteen gown with big puffy sleeves. my favourite part is how the skirt is gathered the whole way round, except where the v dips into it. (although it's a bit hard to see in the picture)


Because they are all made from stretchy fabrics they don't need zips, and for the first two the top was already made, which saved so much time. Thanks for looking!

I reconstructed this from a large dress I bought secondhand. I changed the fit but kept the original pockets which I love, and I added the black detail.



It reminds me of some of the stylish outfits by the awesome women on advanced style so I had fun styling it like this:



I hope I can be brave enough to wear it with the matching headscarf because I really like it! Do I look faintly stylish or just mad?? I don't much mind either way

Hello, I'm a looooooooong time lurker, first time poster. I recently bought a serger and I am in love with it! I made these swimmers and it was so easy. Meanwhile my sewing machine won't actually sew Lycra at all.



(I'm wearing silly glasses just because I like them.)

I was inspired by this post by xjoyfulsongx. I have also made a few dresses with the same triangle and gathering detail.





A question for anyone who has made their own swimmers- should I line the swimsuit or is one layer fine?? I'm a bit nervous about actually wearing it in the water. And is there any way to stop the boylegs riding up at the back and exposing my butt?! It's fine in this pic but goes up when I walk. Thanks!
