@Calabaza, unacceptable  Wink but I guess we shall all wait patiently.

I totally tried to teach myself how to crochet on the drive to North Carolina this morning... did not work out too well but hopefully I can learn! Would love to incorporate that into something for this swap.
(Couldn't get the slip stitch down...)

Hope everyone en enjoying their weekend (wherever you may be.) I'm on a 17 hour drive home after an over night drive just to be somewhere for 2 hours. Ugh.

It's my one month!! Am I official yet?! Haha (can you tell I'm excited for my first swap???)

@missiejean - my goal is to have partnering done by Monday evening, it will probably be earlier than that, but I want to be sure I can make my goal  Smiley

Woohoo!! I will be in a car for about 30 hours this weekend (yes between Friday and Sunday...)
So I will pick up some stuff before I leave tomorrow to make in the car ride... and if it does not work with my partners "wants" then I guess I will have to keep it for myself  Wink

I suppose I could be wrong about the shipping... I use the Priority Mail boxes...
Here is the link I found just in case anyone has questions on the shipping!

@Calabaza-- do we find out our partners on Monday?

for shipping:: if you get the flat rate boxes(which are usually free!!!), you can stuff as much as you want in the boxes (up to 75lbs) anywhere in the world for usually less than $15!!

I have a ton of the boxes from shipping things overseas to soldiers and to friends across the US.

187  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Wedding Dress Help?! Need help figuring out the skirt! on: January 19, 2011 07:05:06 AM
I used to work at a bridal salon and they would create a bustle with this "bunched" look with a ribbon bustle.

It is actually pretty easy once you figure out the placement of all of the ribbons.

I found this site, which may help.
http://www.doweb4u.com/french_bustle.htm

I found it was best to color coordinate the ribbons as well, that way you know you are not going to tie the wrong ribbons together!

Good luck, and congrats  Grin

Soooo, I have been doing some thinking and brainstorming with two of my coworkers and I think I have a plan of attack  Grin

I'm going to make those record bowls (where you put the record over a bowl in the oven as seen here http://offbeatbride.com/2010/02/diy-record-bowl )

Going to fill those with things from here  http://www.orientaltrading.com/party-themes-and-events-a1-388560-1-0.fltr

All sticking with the "rock star" theme!

Getting excited for it. Only thing putting a damper on everything is we haven't been able to pick a date yet... We are going to Virginia in April with his band, but do not know the exact date yet and his parents want to go to Ireland in May for a week, so can not do anything without them here. I don't really want to push it back until June because we want to go back to Vegas with some friends... and I do not want it in March because the weather here in Wisconsin will still be icky and I feel that is too soon to be able to invite people. Argh!!  Undecided

Hopefully we will figure everything out soon...

Looking forward to Friday when I can officially become part of the swap  Grin

ALSO, looking forward to finding out partners!! I will have my phone on me all weekend, even though I will be out of town!!

Lots of crafting ideas roaming through my head!
190  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / my reception in April//May on: January 14, 2011 10:52:43 AM
Hey Ladies!!

My husband and I got married November 12, 2010 in Vegas and we are going to have our reception with everyone who could not make it (which is everyone except our parents and two of my friends)

My colors are purple and orange and "theme" is "Lucky in Love" with a punk twist.

I'm thinking about having it at a local bowling alley because they have an awesome hall for very inexpensive.

I'm just having problems thinking about what to make for the table decor/favors and whatnot.

Any suggestions?

We are definitely not traditional, so not sure if the flower centerpieces are right right idea...

I have seen some things but nothing I really love yet.

Any suggestions or help?
