haha, well I defintely have to wear leggings if I leave the house...it's not quite sun dress weather yet Wink
HOpefully soon!

So glad you like your gifts, Kat ... Being in Toronto, I pictured it with leggings and a turtleneck ... But you can rock it as a dress  Cool.  Glad you signed up this year, cuz I had your hoopla all planned out last year but ran out of time!

Thanks to our always awesome organizer, TroubleT!  (I'm always sending thing out last and tying things up!)

I got such a pretty package from phnxreign99 last night. She made me a hoop with the cover of one of my albums on it (so touching!) and she made me a really sweet sequin dress with batwing arms that I can't wait to wear when I play the art museum next month in my hometown. Woo! Thank you so much Tammy, you made the last few weeks feel better today.
3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: January 2013 Birthday Swap - Join ALL MONTH! on: January 04, 2013 12:09:54 PM
Hi everyone! I'm Kat and my birthday was on the 12th of Jan. I live in Toronto and this is the second time that I've done a birthday swap on Craftster. Last year was really wonderful and I'm excited to do it again. I sew a bit, make videos and make a lot of music (www.playthetriangle .com) and drawings and I'd like to learn how to crochet one day. I travel a lot for music work and it's something that I really love, but it also means that I don't like a lot of random stuff around. Practicality is key to light packing Smiley

Favourite colours: I like most subtle colours and patterns, especially into vintage looking fabrics and antique florals (but not modern flowers very often)

Interests:

I love teas, all sorts of teas and especially herbal teas. I'm off caffeine for the next few months, so herbal teas are AWESOME.
I play music all over, so having some sort of thing to wrap my cords up would be amazing, or maybe a hand sewn or crocheted covers for my pedals? (these kind of pedals http://www.dv247.com/assets/products/14627_l.jpg)
I love nature, birds and leaves in a realistic looking context
I love everything related to stationary and stamps, and I get super excited about ephemera I can use in letters.

Other likes:
healing stones and crystals
photography, polaroids, miniature detailed things
old magazines, ephemera
old postcards
writing letters (+ receiving them!)
natural items like feathers, bone, leather bits (but all found naturally, not purchased)

Etsy favs: http://www.etsy.com/people/PlayTheTriangle/favorites

Crafted items:
Wool socks! It's pretty snowy here, they're good to have. (i'm size 7.5)
crocheted crop top?  I perform pop music, so I can wear more 'crazy' things on stage. Something awesomely shiny or wearable would be cool... Like maybe a big bow tie or hair bow, or some sort of fascinator or a bat-wing top or....anything? I'm a size 4/6 or small.
I like pretty earrings. Not too big or gaudy, but just pretty (if that makes sense!)
I love the cross stitched hoops hooplas some of you make! Something to put on my wall would be nice. Maybe with something written positively about working hard?

Supplies:

fabric, just regular quilting style cotton, any size or colours
Watercolour paper, any sizes or scraps of it
ink pens, drawing supplies (used is totally fine! recycleeee)
jewellery findings and interesting pieces to put together, like chains, clasps etc
Keys, all sorts of old fashioned keys big or small are super awesome.

Other randoms:

snacks (I'm vegetarian)
wool, I just learned to knit!
embroidery hoops or small pieces so I can display
chocolate is always a winner, but please just as dark as possible (so I don't eat it all at once!)

Thanks for including me, really looking forward to it!

Oh I'm excited about this. I did it last year and it was such a nice surprise (and the only gift I got!) because I was out of the country for a little while. Woo!

I'm glad you like our Smarties! They are pretty delish.
Rockets are the only Hallowe'en candy that was super easy to eat a million of. They taste totally different than US Smarties eh! You are right, perfumey is a good way to describe.

I received the most thoughtful and beautiful package from Pilar Farmer. I was totally honoured to take over a beautiful feather collection and beautiful beach glass. She made a nice frame to hang it in. Unfortunately one of the jars smashed, but I'll replace it.

I learned  a lot in this swap and I felt really terrible that my package was not up to this standard! I've sent out a supplement package to add the craft that I forgot to put in the first one (I have no idea how I missed that in the box, but I was moving and maybe I was not thinking) and a thank you card.

Wow, I didn't realise people would be sending so much. I put together a much smaller package. I hope my swap partner is okay with that. Here I thought I was going all out but it looks like mine will be a smaller sampling.

Aussie/Canada and UK have the *real* Smarties, which are chocolates covered with a candy shell (taste better than m&Ms). Americans called those Rockets candies Smarties, which is always confusing when I am there and not nearly as tasty.
