1  Skirt project help please in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by ruthie on: June 01, 2005 03:40:23 AM
Hi, I have this maxi denim skirt http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=5l5f9v that I wanted to make into a tent skirt (i.e. wider at the bottom), so I unpicked the sides and added my (lightweight cotton) triangle side panels, but it doesn't hang right http://tinypic.com/view.html?pic=5l5flg.

I would like the shape to look like this but I'd prefer the panels on the sides.

If I "backed" the side panels with a heavy white cotton, would I achieve the shape I'm looking for? Or is it best to stitch the sides back up and add the cotton panels to the centre of the skirt (as shown in the "good shape" photo).

The original skirt is a lightweight denim, though definitely not the same fabric as the cotton I added.
Thanks in advance for your advice!
