Whats funny was I was gonna update photos b/c I've already improved the place!! I got a new huge painting for the blank wall over the table. A new computer desk and lots of new retro stuff for the kitchen. I realize that maybe it will never be "done" b/c I am always picking up junk!! Thanks for all the new comments.

The idea for a little black rug is a good idea. Maybe even a black bathroom rug cut to size or something. I own a shag rug which my dogs eat on (the carry bits of kibble to the Den and then eat) the problem is the shag holds all the crumbs!! I use a cute placemat under their bowls as I have a black and white checkered kitchen floor as well. It is a vinyly kinda placemat so I can just throw it in the sink and sponge it off when it gets icky. Anyway beautiful pup and kitchen.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Renting, but PAINTING (OMG) on: June 03, 2005 07:22:30 PM
Kilz is a godsend! It will cover about anything and can really cut down your repaint time especially since it is white.  Red can be hard to cover and if you are a lazy painter red even drak red takes many coats to cover. The white will show through with just one or two coats. So red is one of the most time consuming and expensive since it takes more paint than any other color. Anyway good luck!!

Whats funny is that I am getting so many comments on the orange and red color. What is funny is that the couch was a hand me down. Because it was orangy brown I couldn't make my den my favorite color BLUE!. Then my Husband fell in love with that rug. So we bought it and then I just decorated around those two things. Honestly I didn't think I would ever like it. But I do love orange now. So this was definitely one of those "how am I gonna make all this work decorating jobs"!!

Anyway thanks again for all the nice comments.

Those are from my last apt. They are from IKEA and they are insanely cheap. I think they were either 2$ or 3$ a piece. The five red ones actually came red and I painted the other ones orange, I know they also come as light blue and just plain. Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I worked really hard on it. A lot of people hate it. Its too retro and too colorful. People are outright insulting but say things like "my its quite retro" Or "wow thats a lot of color" But not in a nice way if you know what I mean. Alas only if more craftster girls lived in the building. Sigh.

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: making dog toys? on: May 14, 2005 05:26:39 PM
What about canvas?? I have a Lab and she is a chewer. She has one of those heavy duty Canvas fetch toys that float in water and they last a while. Now canvas can be a bit harder to sew but its more durable than your average thin cotton fabric. Also while other "fabrics" like vinyl are hardier they are not good at all if your dog rips aparts and eats. Canvas is 100% cotton so its much safer. Also you can pick up squeakers in a pack at pet stores. This is a big hit with my dog as i sometimes put two in one animal. I squeak one while she squeaks the other. Good LUck.
