1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / zombie in a tin on: December 24, 2011 04:25:10 AM
My sister asked me to make a Christmas gift for her to give to her boyfriend. They live in Loverpool and he's always saying that there are loads of zombies walking around. This is what I came up with

The tin is an old altoids tin covered in tissue paper. I hope he likes it  Grin
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / pigeons on: December 23, 2011 05:48:57 PM
My friend Erica and I went camping years ago. As we were sitting in the tent we could hear some pigeons. Erica told me how, when she was at school, her friend said that whenever she heard a pigeon cooing it sounded like it was saying 'my toe hurts Betty, my toe' over and over again. Erica said that from that moment on every time she heard a pigeon she thought the same thing. For years she has heard pigeons complaining about their toes hurting and who the heck is Betty?
Obviously I can't help hearing the same thing every time I hear a pigeon. Next time you hear one I reckon you'll get it too  Wink
Anyway, I stitched this up for her birthday. She's quite creative as well, so I just left it as small panel for her to use as she pleases.

3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / needle felted fairies on: December 23, 2011 05:28:56 PM
I've been wanting to give felting a go for a while now but never come across any roving to buy. So when I saw some in a shop recently whilst on holiday, I just had to buy it and cart it back with me (along with a felting needle which kept getting lost in my hand bag)
I got a mixed colours bag and just started messing around. I have become quite addicted. I love the way you can kind of sculpt with it.
Fairies usually aren't my thing but the colours seemed suited to them

Wee gnomey man

They are all about 3 inches tall. I love to have the time to make a 5ft gnome Grin
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Octopus pendent on: December 23, 2011 05:11:32 PM
I recently made this octopus pendent for the spell my name swap.

I didn't want to put a hole in it so I ended up embedding a safety pin into the back of it to thread a chord through.
It was sculpted in one colour and then painted with various things including acrylics, nail varnish and pens.
Have a lovely weekend  Smiley
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Way to use up scraps on: March 25, 2011 04:20:30 PM
Hello there  Smiley
I, like many others, am a hoarder. I particularly don't like to throw out scraps of felt. I have quite a big bag full now. There is definitely something about a see-through bag crammed full of brightly coloured scraps. Trouble was, I never put them to any good use.

Until now ......

FINGER PUPPETS  Cheesy Grin Grin Cheesy

Once you get started on them, it really is pretty difficult to stop

One more group shot

It's quite simple to do any animal I think. You just have to keep it simple.

Or maybe you don't, I might try a few more intricate ones. Like birds with real feathers or fish with sequin scales.

Well, thanks for looking  Wink

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / alphabet bunting on: March 19, 2011 03:10:32 PM
I had the idea to do this a while ago and I have finally got around to doing it.

Like so many other ideas, it has been waiting in my journal for me to get my arse in gear and make them.

They were pretty simple to do, I don't know why I didn't do it before  Roll Eyes

I was on a roll, so decided to use up some bits of felt to make this cupcake bunting

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Felt dolls and finger puppets on: March 19, 2011 09:27:22 AM
So here are some dolls I made recently.
I got a big bag of felt scraps as a pressie from my friend (she knows me so well Smiley). I couldn't stop making them once I'd done a couple. I used some scraps of vintage material for the arms and legs. I think I got the idea for the shape from someone on flickr (Really sorry but I don't remember their name, I really should write these things down Roll Eyes)

And with the really scrappy scraps of felt I had left over.............. I made finger puppets

My son has grown quite attached to these. They have been useful when trying to keep him still to change his bum! Grin
Thank you for looking
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / child-size button tree bags on: March 19, 2011 09:17:48 AM
Hello craftsters!
These are some child-size button tree tote bags I've been working on. Don't you just love button trees. I could get addicted to them.
I might try some button flowers next, or butterflies. Hmm?
Thanks for looking  Grin

9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Cloud diary (lots of pictures) on: March 18, 2011 05:57:36 PM

A stationary company delivered the wrong kind of till rolls to my shop. After ringing them, they said they would send the right ones and to throw the other ones away!!!!
Not one for waste, I took the till rolls home.
I love clouds but have never been any good at drawing them, so I decided to use one of the rolls to practice.
I looked out of the same window each day and took a photograph of the clouds. I then used the photograph to draw from. Like a sort of cloud diary. I thought it would be quite an easy way to see my progression.
I decided not to restrict myself to any one medium. I have used ink, pencils, charcoal, pastels and paint to try and capture the clouds.

I'm quite pleased with the outcome and am definitely more confident about drawing clouds now  Smiley
I think when it's all rolled out it looks like it could make a good room border.
Thank you for looking, let me know what you think.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Half finnished projects swap on: March 16, 2011 05:37:02 AM

I'm sorry for clogging the board if this swap has already been suggested (I haven't had chance to go through the 150 odd pages yet and didn't want to forget the idea!)

I have quite a few unfinished projects hanging around that have lost momentum but have potential.
So the idea would be to send out half finished projects (anything) and your partner would Finnish it and send it back. Obviously you would have to say if there was something you particularly didn't want to happen to your work but I think it would produce some interresting collaborations.

I haven't actually participated in a swap yet so I couldn't organise this one until have. I wouldn't mind if someone else organised it though.
Is anyone interrested? Smiley
