1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Two Beaded Necklaces :-) on: August 25, 2007 11:00:48 PM
my best friend and I went to Bead It! [Concord, NH, anyone?!] before she left for college last week, and this was the result....

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Vampire Land [IMG heavy] on: August 25, 2007 10:18:15 PM
So, in Gothic Tales last year for extra credit my teacher assigned us to revamp/create our own board game. He did this while we were reading Stephen King's Salem's Lot, so my friend and I revamped Candy Land, and made it into Vampire Land. Don't mind the bad paint job on the actual game board....

this is the game's box... I put fangs on everyone, and blood splotches all over it...

I also painted the sides of the game's box.

again

in order to make it educational, we put quhttp://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?action=post;board=104.0
Start new topicestions about the book on the back of each game card, and you were supposed to answer the question before you could go to the colored space you got on the card....

I made a small purple velvet pouch [left over from another project] to keep all the game cards in... you know, so you can't see the question that you're picking.

all the answers to the questions on the back of the game cards are kept in this binder

the [badly painted] game board... lots of fangs and blood... plus we named all the "areas" on the board after places in the book.

and all the game pieces.. I wrote the names of the "good guys" on the bottom... because, obviously, the point of the game is to beat the vampires. [and my mean-looking kitty in the background... he's not mean, though.]

aaand that is all. :-)
3  COOKING / Dessert / Senior Project in baking?!? oh my. on: August 25, 2007 09:23:23 PM
SOO to graduate high school everyone had to do a senior project. and being the cool kid I am, I chose to do Baking & Pastry Arts [which I happen to be going to collegeee for]... so here's a bunch of stuff I made for my expo display  Grin

this is my whole display... still mostly intact [as soon as I was finished being judged a crowd of freshman came and stole my cookies :-(

these are my faaaaaabulous cupcakes. they're white velvet butter cake [cupcakes] from The Cake Bible, with the buttercream recipe from The Magnolia Bakery Cookbook. They are decorated with fondant flowers, gum paste flowers, sprinkles, and green buttercream.

ohh, and the little signs that say what everything is are made out of white chocolate. I melted the chocolate, and put it into molds. then used colored chocolate to pipe out the words on the chocolate bars. yayy

chocolate covered strawberries. milk chocolate on the strawberry, then colored white chocolate for decoration

marzipan truffles. I pretty much melted a pack of marzipan [4oz, maybe?] with 8oz dark chocolate. then I let it cool until it could be rolled into balls. they're rolled in coconut, chopped almonds, and cocoa powder. [the white chocolate sign there looks really bad... I was attempting to finish them all during my lunch block the day of expo... oopss]

this is apple walnut cake with caramel cream cheese frosting with extra caramel drizzle and walnuts for a garnish. all from The Magnolia Bakery Cookbook.

pots de creme... pretty much fancy chocolate pudding. with pocky and whipped cream for a garnish. I got this recipe from a Culinary Institute of America cookbook [it was more of a textbook, though]

this is exactly why you DON'T leave creme brulee out without refrigeration. it looked good before expo, I swear. recipe from Williams-Sonoma Desserts.

marzipan dinosaur named JESSE... like nessie.. because he looked like nessie. all I did for him was add food coloring to the marzipan [which makes it very sticky, you'd probably want to get powdered food coloring] and then molded it into dinosaur/nessie shape..... the "rocks" around him are all chocolate. like m&ms.

aaaaaaaaaand finally my beeeeeest friend eating the last of the apple walnut cake... you can also see a bit of the looovely poster I made to display all my work over the year.

I also baked about 5 billion White Chocolate Coconut Macademia cookies... but I didn't take a picture of them for some reason?

I didn't post the actual recipes, because I don't know if it's legal? buuuut if anyone wants one, just let me know and I can post it or message it or whateverrrr.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / "pencil bag" on: August 10, 2005 05:17:42 PM
mmyeah, so since I got my "Don't Date.. Craftsterbate!" bag and decided to use it as my school bag this year I figured I needed a "pencil bag" and all the ones at the store? they're WAY too "pencil bag"-esque, so what's a girl to do?! make her own, of course!

that's the outside of it... yayyy rainbow patches and rainbow ribbon...

inside without anything

the inside with some of my crap in it... I still need to round up all my sharpies... and post-its... and other useless things I need for school...

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my first skirt on: August 06, 2005 02:01:41 PM
mm yeah, so I got some fricken HOT polka dot fabric while I was having a craft-related freak-out... and I got A LOT of it.... I had no idea what to do with it... but then I had a toga party with the fabric.... of course, I had the toga party by myself.... so somehow I decided to make a skirt.. I'm pretty happy with how it came out... I'm glad it isn't digustingly screwed up, because I sort of just... winged it.

yeah, so anyway...

that is the front of it on me...

there is the side/butt of it... with the HOT HOT HOT rainbow ribbon I used as a drawstring-type-thing.... yeahhhh

and that is it just chilling on my bed..

if the pictures don't work you can always see them in my webshots... http://community.webshots.com/album/388191264OpsWFp/1 they're the ones that are named "puppies" ....awkward, yes... but I was uploading pictures of puppies onto my computer at the same time.. so it made sence.....

thanks for looking!

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / craft-related freak-outss on: August 04, 2005 07:22:19 PM
yeah, so I'm pretty sure this is where I post this? I do hope so.  Smiley

so, today I had my very first craft-related freak-out... you know, when you absolutely NEED to do something crafty, but you CANNOT find anything in your house that is suitable?! yeah, so I started hyperventilating... then I ran to my mom and was like "CAN I GO TO CONCORD RIGHT NOW?!?!" and she was like 'uhh okay, why?' and I screamed "CRAFT SUPPLIES" while running to the bathroom, taking the fastest shower of my life, running to my room, getting dressed as fast as possible, and sprinting to my car.... it was just about the funniest thing ever.  Grin

once I got to Michael's it was 8:30, so I only had like 30 minutes, which made me semi-depressed... buuuuut.. I got BIIG letter stencils and a plain tote bag

at 9 I decided I still needed more and went to walmart where I bought 4 yards of $2-a-yard fabric, biiig buttons [in blue, red, orange, yellow, green], rainbow ribbon, and 3 sponges for stenciling..

please tell me that other people have had freak-outs like this?!
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / booty bag on: July 06, 2005 05:36:17 PM
I made a booty bag a while ago, but I never got the chance to take pictures or post them... I know there was a topic about this before, but I can't find it [aka I don't have the energy to find it] so I'm just starting a new topic.

I made it with american eagle jeans, an old navy long-sleaved t-shirt, an old navy belt, and lots of hot glue.. I tried to sew it all together, but my sewing machine doesn't like me that much... I'll eventually hand sew it for extra protection, but it's held up perfectly so far.

the back

the front

inside... haha.. I'm a gumaholic.

inside one of the front pockets... yay for advil, dramamine, and lip balm!

if you can't see it you can go here: http://community.webshots.com/user/celestialxxdreams then go to "crafty stuff" all the pictures of it are on the second page.

money pocket.. too bad I only have a dollar.

my mom won't let me carry around my social security card in my wallet, but she's like 'you need to know your number, write it down!' because of the whole job application thing... so I made duct tape card to put the number on... it's pretty hot.
