1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: weird dollhouse,,HELP on: June 03, 2005 08:11:04 PM
i may wanna do THAT.....is it safe to use an old monitor?I have one now....I hat to be a weiner..but everone seems to think i will get shocked from old things like this(how long do they carry a charge?HuhHuhHuh???thanks!!!

my one college teacher told us this year never crack open a monitor to repair it because even if you unplug it completely and leave it sitting for a good 2 months (like 60 days) it takes that long for all the stored up energy to drain out....but that's the MINIMUM amount of time to wait before opening up a monitor, you're kinda pushing it abit still then...just cause the amount of energy stored in a monitor is enough to kill a person (i forget the exact amount of volts)

so your paranoia is justified, you can crack one open and do whatever with it, just NEVER do it when there is still energy trapped inside...and even then be very careful and wary. If you really want to try it wait at least 6 months to a year.

Hope that helps some
