1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Yarn Swap: continued info on: May 10, 2005 06:29:57 AM
I am the person that she was suppsed to send it to.  Sniff!  I was really looking forward to revamping my stash.  Funny, I hosted a yarn swap on the Knittyboard with 15 people on it and it went around in less than 6 months with no hitches.  Maybe Rae will eventually feel really bad about it and send the box on.....

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Favorite free pattern site? on: August 27, 2004 06:00:03 PM
Is there going to be another issue of Magknits?  I know that they stopped doing thier newsletters and nothing has been posted in the forum for ages.  The winter issue should be coming out soon.

5  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Re: YARN DYEING 101 - KOOL AID on: August 18, 2004 06:38:14 PM
I just finished dyeing yarn for a project using Wilton's icing dyes.  They come in a lot of colors and these can be picked up in the cake decorating isle of Michael's for less than $2 a jar.  You only need a little bit for a lot of color.  I dipped the handle of a spoon in the jar (it's a gel-like substance) and that is all it took.  Thye come out in really vibrant colors since it is so concentrated.  I used it with the directions from Stitch n Bitch and made sure that I used vinegar with it.  Plus, I am sure that they ahve icing/cake dye in other countries!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Blender Dave Chappelle hat on: July 29, 2004 04:46:37 PM
This technique is explained in the Weekend Knits book.  I made a hat out of it, but my guage was really tight, so it was very tough to work on, and very confusing.  Basically you cast on with 2 colors and do a 1x1 rib, purling in one color and knitting on the other.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: help with circular needles on: July 24, 2004 08:00:41 PM
29" are perfect ofr knitting flat items on circs.  I almost never use straight needles anymore, I always end up poking someone with them.  Just think of them as 2 separate needles (each end) and knit back and forth, turning the whole thing after every row.  Hope this helps!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ballet-style wrap top??? on: July 24, 2004 07:36:00 PM
There is one in the book Hollywood Knits that is exactly what you are looking for.  It hink it is even called a Ballerina Wrap.  I have been wanting to amke it myself, but I really don't know what I would wear it with.
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Overwhelmed with Old FIlm Slides!! on: July 18, 2004 07:17:37 AM
I recently was given a large box of old slides from when my father was in the Phillipines in the 60s.  We have hundreds, even a complete tray of slides on the theme of how rice is made.  I am already making a lampshade, but I am wondering if anyone had any other ideas for these?
