1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Good UK supplier of funky material? on: August 01, 2012 04:51:50 AM
Hi, Im in the UK and Im looking for a supplier of material, preferable internet based and without huge postage charges.

I use material for lining make up bags, backing hoops, covering journals, appliqu etc, so I only want small pieces but lots of variety plus some unusual prints. Ive bought fat quarters from ebay before, but its so hit and miss whats on there. Does anyone have any favourite they can recommend?

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Wedding card button tree advice on: July 21, 2012 01:13:11 AM
I um-ed and ah-ed about which board I should ask this on, but decided on this one as you are all so helpful.  Grin

I'm making a simple little button tree wedding card for a friend, and this is where I'm up to:

My question is, is it finished? I had originally thought I'd do some grass and flowers and bark on the tree, but now I think it might be too much. Also, does the love heart stand out enough? I did it in back stitch, but maybe split stitch would be better?

The colour behind the tree is sky blue, but the flash has distorted it a bit.

For my 30th birthday this weekend we had a float are our local carnival. The theme was 1982 (the year I was born) and there were some fabulous outfits. Not everything was home made, but I thought people might enjoy seeing the photos any way:

It was my Not-God daughter's first birthday last week and I made her these:

Here's a few more pics (because I always take too many!)

They were all hand sown as I don't own or know how to use a sewing machine! I situation I hope to rectify soon.

I hope you like.

The first one is a quicky for my friends birthday using this wonderful tutorial:

And the back:

And the not so quicky! I made this for my nephew who was born on 29 May (I finally finished it on 3 July). The biggest project I've done so far:

And a few close ups of the little dudes:

Hope you like them.

When I asked what my cousin's favourate film was I knew she'd say dirty dancing. When I asked what er favourate quote was from it I was hoping for a shorter one! Oh well..

And here's the back (nice and neat!)
