1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Circle Journey Book on: October 12, 2004 07:07:39 AM
I tried this with my maid of honor as I got ready to get married - the only problem is that our journal got lost in the mail along the way. Until that time it was great and we filled it with fun stickers and other stuff.
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re:vintage jewelry on: February 29, 2004 10:46:47 AM
I love to save cool pieces as a center to a collage. The are my starting point then I add colored papers and fabric around them to make a great piece of art. You can also decorate boxes and use the jewel as the handle to open the box or as the focal point.

Another thought... depending on the size, why not attach them to doors in your home, you know where I room number would be if it was a hotel.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re:pining for craft table that is on sale on: February 27, 2004 06:39:10 PM
the table seems very cool, but not very practicle. You really cannot hold a lot of craft material. I love my file cabinet craft table - two-two drawer filing cabinets with a piece of wood across them. I never care what i spill on the wood and the drawers hold EVERYTHING, plus since I bought the cabinets at a sale the whole thing was $40.
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re:?baby food jars? on: February 25, 2004 08:15:12 AM
I made this with a babyfood jar - I put votive candles in it and it glows. I covered it with tissue paper and then glued a lace flower on it.

If you like vellum - I made my placecards with a vellum layer. First I took a heavy colorful cardstock paper that was 2.5" x 5" tall and folded it in half to be a square. I printed out a 2" square with the table number large on it and also printed a 2" square with the name on vellum. I them attached them all together with a grommet. I will look for a photo to post later..... I really love grommets so I used them for my invitation and menu as well.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re:I need some advice on how I can make jewelry from things around the house... on: February 24, 2004 06:58:23 PM
I remember seeing a posting about jewelry made from forks and spoons. I really like the idea of making earrings out of game pieces. You would need to make a small whole in the piece with something like a dremmel. How about a candyland charm for someone really sweet or monopoly house earrings? It also might be cool to drill holes in the cars from life and string them with beads to make a bracelet.
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re:Covered Bottles! on: February 24, 2004 05:25:21 AM
Yes we used tissue paper, but also magazine pages. The stripes on this are magazine pages, while the top is tissue paper. The second one is just tissue paper with scrap book stickers as a finishing touch. The last one is just tissue paper - a silver type with other colors on top. Then a chain of sequins were hung aroud the center.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re:Mini Purse (lined w/flap) on: January 07, 2004 05:52:46 AM
Most excellent - I have been trying to visualize how I am going to assemble my purse and this really helps!!!! Now the only thing holding me back is finding a sewing machine to borrow.

Stars beads in Vienna is really nice if you are looking for anything to do with beading or jewelry making. I love the quilting patch in Fairfax for fabric, I bought pieces to make several small sewing projects. As far as Michael's stores go the Sterling location is very nice... and big.

- anyone know of any crafter clubs or groups in Northern VA?
