1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! on: March 05, 2006 06:52:15 AM
Hey guys, I've just spent the last few hours reading the whole of this thread again with my jaw open Shocked Grin Some amazing tattoos!

Anyway, I have a question...

I got a tattoo on my foot in August last year, it starts at my ankle and ends just before my big toe curving around with my foot, but I think its crap! I checked the artwork and everything before I gave the artist the go ahead, but the whole thing just looks badly drawn and I'm kind of embarressed by it Cry I'm thinkig of getting a cover up but can I do that so soon after the orginal was done?

I love the idea (my own!) and the design on paper was fine but the finished thing just isn't quite right.

And if anyone has any recs for artists in Glasgow or Edinburgh then let me know!

Hi there,

I made a felt monster pouch for my husbands ds which was super easy to make.  All I did was measure out 2 rectangles (outer and lining) for the pouch and 2 smaller rectangles for the flap over bit. I sewed the main ones up the side then at the corners to give it some depth, and did the same for the lining, then I sewed the flap, put it all together and sewed around the seam to keep it all together, added some velcro to keep the flap down, added some googly eyes and some teeth - and there you have it!

To add pockets (and he's asked me for a new one for xmas with pockets Roll Eyes) I would add some to the back before starting anything else. It just need a long strip of fabric topstitched on and sew down the middle to give slots for 2 games (or as many as you'd like).

I know this isn't the best of 'tutorials' but I can try to get some pics if you like when he gets home, or when I make the next one. I think I'm going to try and pad it properly!

Hey, sorry your not having much luck with the Gimp, hopefully a different photo editor will work better - I'm sure they all have similar features!

I don't have a scanner Claire, but that sounds pretty simple!!

Sorry its taken me so long to reply to this!

arrhythmia - I can't get any of your links Sad and I'd love to see the pictures. Don't know what to suggest about Gimp with windows as I use Firefox. Have you checked the white balance on your camera as that might help with the yellow colours you are getting.

gherkin - Yep, the lights can get in the way sometimes! I either take the photo at a slight angle which can work well for some things, or hover the camera above the item and snap away. I can see on the screen on the back of my camera whats actually inside the picture.

TessTessi - Glad your finding Gimp useful, I find out new things every time I use it:) You can hit the 'auto' button in the Colour Levels window and that will adjust the light balence automatically. So simple I really don't know why it took me so long to try it out! Sometimes it does make the colour go a bit nutty, but then you just press reset and do it the normal way.

I would think a refrigerator would come in a pretty big box - yep! If not, I'm sure a shop or something would be happy enough to give you a box if you asked.

Has anyone had time to try it yet?

Rock_n_roll Kitty, I didn't do the attaching lightbulbs bit (I'm rubbish at that sort of stuff so my husband did it for me!), but it basically involved drilling some holes in the lid to feed the wires through and screw the lightbulb fittings on and then using glue to secure them a bit more. They are the same light fittings that you would use for the ceiling and we got them from B+Q (in the UK) for a few pounds each. I've just used a plastic lid that I got from Ikea for 1.

Silver-Faery, It is a bit of hassle, I agree! I suppose its really just in case people who sell stuff online want to take this kind of photography for there website and I can help them out.
