I'm always on the look out for scrappy ideas - sometimes I think I have more scraps then full size fabric. I eat the knitting set at the bottom. Are they original patterns or can you share where you found them?
To answer the how beginner quilt friendly question - that's a 2 part answer. The actually piecing of the quilt is super easy because you can't go wrong - there's no rhyme or reason to it, so that's very easy. And because it is such a small segment, it's the perfect project to try your hand and free motion quilting. You don't have to worry about trying to work with big bulky blanket size pieces in the machine. The part that was the trickiest is zig-zagging around the applique letters. All those curves and twists and turns take patience.
