Thanks so much!

Thank you!  We did use dowels in the middle to keep the head on, but mostly it's a very stable construction - plenty of frosting under the fondant kept it pretty secure.
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering on: November 05, 2009 11:21:03 AM
My boyfriend and I went as Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering circa the 1930's Buster Crabbe serials:

We made the guns from dollar store squirt guns.  My cap has a wine stopper at the top, his is a cookie press!  The jetpacks are foam and soda bottles for him, Guinness cans for me.  Harness and armor are made from pieces of a Spartan costume. I looked up 1930's makeup and tried to replicate it authentically.

I loved these costumes - it's very fun to have a jetpack and a ray gun!

Absolutely gorgeous!  Beautiful choice of picture as well as great work executing it.

Beautiful work!  I have never been that into capelets but would totally wear this.  I have a minor beet obsession.

Here's my Flickr page with the progress of the garden.  We're starting to get little beans, and lots of tomatoes!

Terrariums are cool.  With a good lid, you shouldn't really HAVE to water...moisture will condense and "rain" in the jar.  Good luck with your next one, can't wait to see it!

Thanks for your nice thoughts, Susieoregon.  I think what's cool about doing something like this on your own is that you can make it fit whatever space you have.  What I like most about it is the fact that it's raised - I don't have to kneel to weed and it's easier on my legs and back.  My camera battery died  Cry but I hope to have new pictures soon!

Green Duck - it's in our back lot, which is away from street traffic.  So far, no one has come into my parking space for veggies! Smiley

Southernmama and everyone else - Thanks!  I'll be taking more pictures soon, and posting them.  So far we have little tomatoes and the beans have flowers!  Everything else is hanging in there but tiny - Boston had an INSANELY wet and gray June and it really stunted growth.  So far, however, it's all surviving and we should get something edible out of it!

Pretty!  I'd be terrified I'd cut my fingers to bits doing this but they look amazing!
