1  Wintertime S'more blues in Dessert by threadbanger on: February 28, 2011 09:13:57 PM

I am a chocolate lover.  Not sure how I came by it as my parents aren't fans, but my son has inherited by obsession with it.  So it was only fitting that when I found this recipe that involved chocolate, we had a mother/son bake session.

I did change a couple things after eating it.  I found that the graham part of the batter didn't have enough flavor, so in remaking, I would try to add more.  For now, I just topped the cupcakes with graham cracker crumbs.

Also, my marshmallows baked up and out of the cupcakes more than in the recipe, which wasn't a big deal, but as marshmallows deflated when they come out of the oven, my cupcake sunk a little.  For the better because I filled my little "dip" with some marshmallow creme for more flavor.

They were yummy (but I could eat almost anything if it was chocolate covered, so I'm a little bias)!  Definitely recommend trying the recipe, though.  Grin

2  My Gnomeo in Knitting: Completed Projects by threadbanger on: February 14, 2011 03:09:13 PM
After watching Gnomeo and Juliet, my almost-four-year-old decided he liked the red gnomes...and that he NEEDED a red gnome hat.

So I found a pattern here:

And this is what I came up with:

I changed the pattern a little, did a 2x2 rib for 8 rows, and in total, knitted 22 rows instead of 16 before I stared decreasing...it ended up being perfectly sized.

Not only is this my 2nd even hat, but it's also only my 2nd time using the magic loop...so all in all, it could have been WAY worse  Grin

3  My new fave scarf (total upcycle) in Knitting: Completed Projects by threadbanger on: January 27, 2011 10:57:37 AM
SO...I decided to take my late fiance, Danny's,  old shirts and make a quilt from them.  But there were so many poor shirts that didn't make the quilt cut (ha...*giggle*) because they were just plain shirts.  So after feeling bad for these clothes, I decided to upcycle them.

And here is the final product.  It doesn't look at as good in the pics, it's a gold color...not so much yellow.  I'm not sure whether I want to tuck all the ends in...I personally think it gives it a little something that the plain ole garter stitch lacks.

And a kinda blurry, but necessary action shot:

I'm going to be making a few more for Danny and I's son, and possibly his two other sons.  So any hints, tips, criticism, advice...yaknow...a ll that stuff would be appreciated (:

Thanks for looking!!

4  Re: Little Visitor 13 gallery in The Swap Gallery by threadbanger on: January 16, 2011 09:00:34 PM
*** Created a blog for Lilya's adventure pics.  It can be seen here:  http://lilyasiladventure.blogspot.com/     That way the board doesn't get clogged up with my obsessive compulsive photo snapping.  All photos from previous days can be seen there, too (:  ***

Yesterday we ventured out of town for a gun show.  It was great and Lilya found a LOT of firearms she thought she needed.  Sadly, I'm too poor to be buying anything like that as a souvenir.  Sad

On the way home, we saw something that made us snicker...so today, after the tot went to school, Lilya and I went out to take a picture of it.  She wanted to drive, but I didn't think it was a good idea in the snow...so she rode on the steering wheel instead.

This is Carlisle, the Emporer Penguin.  He's already making his packing list.

Oh...and Eli the Burmese Python.  I kindly explained to Eli that 12-foot pythons don't fit in shipping boxes, but he still wanted to be in the picture.
