1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Cherry Skirt on: October 07, 2016 11:18:46 AM
I found this in the remnant bin at JoAnn (it was .93 yards) and figured it would be enough to make a skirt if I cut it in half and attached it so I'd have double the length. I ended up using the entire piece and pleated it to fit my waist. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more almost-a-yard pieces of fabric since it's such a fun and easy project to do.

LittleLaura, I put your project down for 24 Carrot Gold and added community points. Please let me know if you want that changed, and be sure to update your post! Smiley

Thank you! I just updated my post. I completely forgot about the prompts, must be the summer heat getting to me Cheesy

Gozer: That coin purse is adorable! I really love that fabric. Also the candle holders are so pretty and I love the t-shirt. The Eternal Tote is really something special, I can tell you spent a lot of time on it!

Project Name: Empire Waist Empire Skirt
Project Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=448192.0
Brief Description: I've had this fabric for a while and finally decided to make a skirt with it. I didn't use a pattern, I just kind of went for it Grin I wish I could get a picture of how the white parts of the fabric glow in the dark but my camera doesn't want to cooperate Angry

I have a ton of Star Wars fabrics in my stash and I finally got around to using one of them! All the white parts glow in the dark Grin I didn't use a pattern, I just kind of winged it.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! I sewed all of it which is why it took so long to finish it. I found that using a larger needle and a smaller stitch kept the fabric in place better but it was still very difficult to work with. The only thing that had to be glued was the diamonds on the top because I ran out of time  Grin

Motor City Comic Con was this past weekend and I went dressed as Harley Quinn. The skirt is a self drafted pattern and the top is a VERY heavily modified version of a vintage crop top pattern. The arm bands are made from a belt that I cut up and sewed together. I probably spent about 30 hours working on this since I went through many different attempts at the top before I got it right (this may be the most unforgiving fabric I've ever used).

Project Name: Star Wars Bomber Jacket
Project Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=445266.0
Brief Description: I found some amazing Star Wars velcro patches (that also glow in the dark!) and had no idea what to do with them until I found this leather jacket at a thrift store. I hand stitched the patches which ended up being a lot more difficult than I originally thought since I've never tried to hand sew velcro onto leather. My tiny little hands ended up taking three days to sew six patches Cheesy I'm happy with how it turned out and now I'm walking around showing off my nerdiness with pride Cool

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Star Wars Bomber Jacket on: March 16, 2016 04:52:05 PM
I'm a huge Star Wars geek so when I found these awesome velcro patches online I knew I had to make something with them. They glow in the dark too! Anyway, I go thrifting a lot and when I came across this leather jacket, I knew what had to be done Grin I bought the patches and hand stitched them to the sleeves.

Holy crap...what I thought was going to be a quick project ended up taking me three days. Sewing through velcro as well as leather is really hard on the hands Angry I'm extremely happy with how it turned out but no more hand stitching for me for a while unless it's something super easy Cool

Here's a picture of the jacket before I washed and sewed the patches to it
