1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Bows and Arrows stole -- my biggest project ever! on: May 11, 2006 06:57:46 PM
So until I made this Bows and Arrows stole for the Ongoing Stuff I Can Make swap, I had only completed a scarf, a hat, and a sock.  I am so proud I finished this I wanted to share it here too.

The pattern is here: http://bythehook.blogdrive.com/archive/166.html and I used Lion Brand microspun in black.  I didn't use as much as the pattern called for, although the wrap did measure a tad shorter than the pattern said when it was done.  I found the pattern really easy to follow, so much so that after the first completion of it I didn't need to look anymore.

So, if you are a pretty new crocheter, get out there and tackle something that seems crazy! Without the swap I wouldn't have tried anything like this, and now I am happy I did it.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First crocheted hat and scarf on: February 24, 2006 01:17:10 PM
Hey!  I finally got a digital camera, so here are pictures of my first two crocheted FO's!

Scarf I made for the bf (the cats refused to get out of the picture):

Hat from the Addison Hat pattern.  After working so hard on the scarf for the bf I wanted something for myself.  It took me two of the days after Christmas, which were spent sitting around the bf's grandparents' so I had a lot of time for crocheting!

3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / anyone else unable to see photobucket pictures? on: October 25, 2005 07:37:04 AM
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, and I thought this was the best spot to post it, but I have been unable to access photobucket, and cannot see any pictures on Craftster that are linked from photobucket.

I suspect the problem is because of a dispute between my ISP and the one Photobucket uses.  These links talk about it:

http://isp-planet.com/business/2005/cogent_level_3.html
http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/06/technology/isps.reut/?cnn=yes

Anyway, just wanted to give a heads up.  Since so many craftsters use photobucket to host pictures.  I, and anyone else you uses an internet provider opposite from the photobucket one now can't see any of the pictures.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / simple shell necklace on: October 13, 2005 05:14:01 PM
I almost didn't post this because it is so simple.  However, I am very proud of it as I always pick up shells on the beach, planning to make them into things and this is the first one I have ever completed.  It's a shell attached to a cord with a jump ring.  Luckily the shell came with a hole when I found it, so less work for me!

5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Origami book mark help requested on: September 18, 2005 05:39:09 PM
So I really want to make an origami bookmark, and have found this pattern: http://dev.origami.com/images_pdf/bookmrk.pdf  (it is a pdf).  However I am hopelessly stuck somewhere around step 8.  What does "inside reverse" mean?  I seem to be ok but by step 11 I have no pocket to tuck anything into.  Can anyone try this thing out and maybe explain it in language I can better understand?

6  COOKING / Dessert / Homemade Pie Crust Help and Tips on: June 20, 2005 06:37:06 PM
Hey everyone,

The bf and I just made our first ever pie from scratch (blueberry!).  It is in the oven as I type.  I had a really difficult time rolling out the crust.  It kept sticking to the counter like mad, and cracking.  I couldn't move it to the pie plate without it trying to break apart everywhere.  I re-rolled a couple of times, but finally just put it in the plate and kind of patched it together.  Are these common pie crust problems?  Any tips or advice?

Thanks!
