51  Rapunzel Rapunzel let down your hair in Halloween Costumes by Sylwa on: July 10, 2011 06:15:57 PM
My 4y/o daughter was invited to a princess birthday party and she asked to go as Rapunzel from Tangled. I was originally going to buy a dress for her but they all look so flimsy so I figured I could make her one. I only had 1 day to make it so it isn't as good as I would like it to be but it turned ok. I made it a bit longer so she could wear it for halloween as well.
I was inspired by a tutorial from this blog: http://www.fleetingthing.com/handmade/dress-up/Tangled-Rapunzel-costume-tutorial/&2_2_95

I bought her a wig at walmart for $12 and a tiara at JoAnns to complete the look.

not quite finished yet:

and finished:

so my clock is pretty much finished, but when I was putting it together today I hanged it on the wall to look at it and I've decided I don't like the hands. SO I went online and ordered different hands for it, I am hoping they will arrive fast so I can mail out.
A little teaser photo I took this morning, hope it doesnt reveal too much.

whew, I am so relieved you liked it!!
I can post a picture of druid kitty version 1.0 now hehe
I made it first from materials I found at my local JoAnns, just to see what it would look like, then I found better fur so I was all happy. anyway here it is

oh and here side pic of druid kitty vs 2.0 right after I finished it (yes I was up all night working on it, I am painfully slow at sewing heh)

and one more because she looks mischievous in this picture and also because I am very proud of her lol

and FUn Fact: I couldn't find orange fur anywhere!!! so I bought stuffed Nemo and did major surgery on him Tongue

OMG seriously the most awesome package ever!!!

First off my battery died so I only have "few" pictures right now, will post more close up pics later.

here is my daughter opening the package

fighting with the ribbon Smiley

ok first things she pulled out: beautifully painted bowls and a coffee mug

one bowl has the ungoro crater map on the inside ( I love UnGoro)

and then on the outside are painted the names of surounding zones: Uldum, Tanaris, 1KN and Silithus

The other bowl is blue inside with fish, jellyfish, snake, tattered cloth and stranglekelp painted on the outside - representing my love for fishing.

Then there is a coffee mug that has a kobold painted on it and the words YOU NO TAKE COFFEE. Awesome!! I love coffee, I drink too much coffee, it's perfect.

Next up is a hoopla with a chicken and green eggs (one of my chickens lays green eggs!!!)

And the most awesome of them are horde and alliance potholders! Such an amazing work, I can't knit/crotchet if my life depended on it! I LOVE IT

Here is a pic of all of it

there is also german chocolate .. well was .. it was YUMMY

I will get a detailed picture of the hoopla and the bowls/mug when my camera charges.

THANK YOU SO MUCH AVERAGE_FAN.

I truly loved everything you sent, you put so much thought in it. I only wish I was as imaginative as you. Now I feel bad for not sending better stuff Sad

57  Re: World of Warcraft Rd 2 (signups closed, sendouts Mar 1) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Sylwa on: March 01, 2011 04:57:13 PM
note for my next swap: when you work with resin put it somewhere where it can't be bumped into/touched/licked/poked  by a curious 4 year old ...
I had to put a fresh coat of resin on something because my daughter just can't help herself and has to do all of the above.
I am hoping it will be hard enough to ship tomorrow  Huh

And here is a little teaser photo of item I just completely finished. I was little tempted to keep it Tongue

heh songs we actually live in a middle of a city and I am technicaly not allowed to have chickens because of stupid ordinance saying I need to have 1acre of land ... and then ppl in baltimore city which is like downtown and stuff can have up to 3 chickens, no need fo big property, ridiculous ... oh well

I havent started the love in the air yet, I dont think I will even have time this year. I made an extra small today but my bf confiscated it, I wouldn't send it anyway because it is too bulky, it was my first try with polymer clay, I will hve to come up with something else, so I can post a pic Tongue

edit: just finished some arenas from hell with my undergeared hunter friend. It was horrible. So so bad D:

59  want to make apron with ruffles, need help in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Sylwa on: January 17, 2011 08:05:28 PM
I am not sure how to make the ruffles on this apron, are all 3 layers attached at the waist and are just progressively longer?
Here is a pic
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41onGXPmwiL.jpg

also I have this old curtains at home and I figured I could make it from them, they were barely used so the fabric is in perfect shape, what do you think? It's 100% polyester, very smooth and silky and lightweight but not see through. I would use the green one.

60  Re: first try at my own design in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Sylwa on: November 27, 2010 11:18:13 AM
Thank you all for the suggestions.

I made this mainly because of the top part, I new I wanted that and just didnt know what to do with the bottom much.

Here is a sketch I made of the bag that I hope to make eventually:

this is the fabric I intend to use for the bottom

I will use black satin for the top part and put a blue rim on the inside of the handle from blue silk or other shiny fabric. The lining will be the same shiney blue.

I was thinking about doing 2 different colors for the overlap but the whole top is one piece, the pattern looks like this

so you just fold it in half lenght wise and sew the overlaps into a triangle shape. Hope that makes sense.

as for the interfacing I ws going to use medium weight iron on interfacing on the whole top part and the lining and leave the outer bottom "skirt" the way it was. The fabric I want to use is pretty sturdy.
