41  Re: International Snack Swap 5 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Sylwa on: April 07, 2012 03:09:49 PM
So we already ate some of the goodies, the kids destroyed the kinder eggs, my boyfriend actually loved them as much as the kids did. He told me I should become best friends with Lilibet because he wants more kinder eggs and those mini Frangipane (delicious).

Here are pictures of what I received.

First the kids attacking the box   Grin

The whole lot

A close up, unfortunately the kinder eggs got crushed but that didnt stop my kids from eating them and enjoying the toys Smiley also there was a smudge on my camera's lens so the pics a bit blurry in the middle

I cannot wait to try that marzipan!

frangipane mix- YAY and look at those little jam jars on top left, so cute!

And my crafted item, WE LOVE HIM, Boyfriend already hung him up above our entrance door, he looks awesome there Smiley

42  Re: International Snack Swap 5 sign ups March 10 to March 24 send outs April 14 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Sylwa on: March 24, 2012 06:39:17 AM
OMG that is one huge box scarlet_nights! I wish I could afford to send that much, I really think the medium sized flat rate box is just too small for the price.
Well I am off to the post office.
And here is a teaser pic for Lilibet  Grin

And the smaller one is about the size of the one I am sending Lilibet, I had to go with that size as my craft item is fairly big and can't be squished, BUT! I was able to fill my craft item with stuff so that was good  Grin

43  Negative space pumpkin hoop in Needlework: Completed Projects by Sylwa on: March 08, 2012 06:14:12 PM
I made this for Robinpich in embroidery swap round 7, the theme was negative space and silhouette
It is my first time doing any type of embroidery and so it was a very frustrating but exciting experience. All the frustration eventually paid off and I ended up feeling excited and satisfied and mainly addicted to embroidery - cannot wait to do more and try different stitches.
I used all satin stitch. I did try to do romanian couching on part of the hoop but ended up finishing with just satin stitch - so that kinda shows where it's different but I still think it looks ok.

And I am going to borrow these absolutely amazing pictures Robin took of the hoop when she received - I cannot thank her enough for showing off my hard work!

I drew the pumpkin design after I've seen this hoop art on etsy http://www.etsy.com/transaction/59621374

44  Flower girl dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Sylwa on: March 01, 2012 07:18:35 AM
A friend of mine asked me to make a dress for my daughter that was going to be a flower girl at her wedding, she mailed me 1 yard of silk fabric costing $50/yard - I was so nervous cutting it up and it was a pain to work with but at the end it turned out ok. The dress didnt match the brides dress as she wanted at first but I think it actually looked better than if it was an exact copy.
Thanks for looking!

45  Druid Kitty plushie for WoW swap in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Sylwa on: February 29, 2012 03:19:57 PM
I made this about a year ago for my partner in the world of warcraft swap. I used a pattern from book called "soft animals A to Z" and modified it a little.
The fur I used was pretty pricey but SO soft, I loved it. This was my first time making plush toys so I did a trial version first and that didnt turn out perfect but still ok. So this would be my second stuffed toy I made. I haven't had time but I want to make one more like this but twice the size for my friend. Thanks for looking.

46  Re: Watercolor Stencil Portrait + TUTORIAL in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Sylwa on: February 22, 2012 11:12:11 AM
oh thank you thank you thank you for tutorial!

This is so beautiful and easy enough for me to do it, I tried my first today and I didnt have the liquid fluid but I found rubber cement and that worked fine I guess. I never painted with water colors before so it was a bit of a struggle at first, but I like it for my frist try.

47  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Round 7 Gallery (Send Out Feb 27) in The Swap Gallery by Sylwa on: February 18, 2012 12:14:47 PM
I think that alice hoop is my favorite so far, if only it was in a different color - not a big fan of pink. And that owl one is just awesome too, I love how unique they both are!

And I have received my hoop today. It's really pretty, I put it up in my kitchen for now but will prbably move it to my kids room because it will match very nicely with the decor there and they have no wall art yet. Thank you Robin!

48  Quick B-Day cake for boyfriend with fake fondant in Dessert by Sylwa on: September 22, 2011 05:56:49 AM
it was my boyfriends birthday yesterday and me and my daughter decided to make a cake for him. I love the look of fondant but I dislike the taste of the real thing so I made it from marshmallows, it looked nice and tasted yummy. I was short on time so I just used a yellow cake mix. The chocolate filling was made out of chocolate pudding mix, milk, butter, semi-sweet choc chips and confectioners sugar. I drizzled rum over the two half cakes and spread red current jelly on each, then put the filling and sliced bananas in a middle. Covered the whole cake in chocolate filling and put the fake fondant on top. I suck at decorating so I just wrote Happy birthday on top.
I can post a tutorial if anybody is interested.

49  Re: Need pattern for flower girl dress Edit: not enough fabric how to modify pattern in Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions by Sylwa on: September 08, 2011 07:40:01 AM
thank you for the reply! I already made a trial version of the dress from a fabric I bought last year on sale with the altered pattern to see what it would look like. It isnt too bad, but I will probably make it less puffy as you suggested.I will also make the bodice a bit longer and not as wide. Will post pictures when done (tomorrow)
The pick-ups on this first dress are only with pins as I dont like that style, without pick-ups it comes down to her ankles.

50  Re: Need help finding a pattern for flower girl dress to match bridal gown in Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions by Sylwa on: September 03, 2011 10:36:24 AM
So I got my pattern, got the fabric ... well I dont have ENOUGH fabric
now it's too late to order more fabric so my question would be if I can alter the pattern in some way so I can make it with what I have?
here's a pic

so I was thinking either making the whole skirt knee high or make it less "puffy" by cutting off few inches on the sides of each panel (front, sides)

this is the dress I am making - or wanted to make http://www.simplicity.com/p-4482-childs-special-occasion.aspx  view E
any help is GREATLY appreciated
