21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: nintendo DS case, that could easily be a wallet on: January 26, 2011 07:24:02 AM
no children or babies here, my son is a grown man now.... seems like just the other day I was quilting him a baby sleeping bag to cart him around in....

I am thinking a skirt.
and I keep thinking maybe a jacket or a suit jacket even
I really need tops but can't think of anything good that would go with the cord...i don't like button downs or anything, I am a very casual dresser...
I have thought about the pillows too!
and a wallet and a purse and a hat and..... LOL

but this piece of info is actually my favorite thing of the day so far!! Thank you!!
I must be a computer loser in some ways, I never knew that.  But I do now!!!!

24  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Jack Cousteau beanies with crocheted sea life =) on: January 26, 2011 06:07:25 AM
Winter hat to me sounds so generic... on the west coast where I grew up they are called beanies, but here in the south they're called toboggans (like the sled!). I always thought a tocque was more like a really floppy beret? Like the striped red, green and yellow hats that a lot of rastafarians wear. What ever you call them, they're adorable. ^_^

I love words.  and this thread is now about two of my favorite things, words and crochet!  awesome!
I believe the hats the rastas wear ( I absolutely love them and have been wanting to make them for awhile, maybe I will now, with octupi on it!) are called applejacks and/or tams.  I have always heard both of those terms in reference to them.

I also live in the south and love toboggan, what is funny to me is you would never get to use a sled in the South!  I have not used one or even seen one since I moved here!  Maybe that is why they call it that, the only way they get to toboggan is to wear a toboggan LOL

thanks!  I love the hat pattern I have been using lately, really easy but has a great texture!
yes it doesn't show, but the butterfly trail goes into a trail and a spiral all the way to right by it all the way around the hat

yeah she does not use hers much either due to the itouch also, but that recently got a smashed screen (she has a case now) and her DS gets lost a lot so I went ahead and made it.  she loves it!

29  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: nintendo DS case, that could easily be a wallet on: January 25, 2011 08:13:55 AM
thanks!  yes the young lady it was for, I just stuck it in a bag of hers and when she found it she loved it!  she has a hhard time keeping up with her DS and her itouch just got abusted screen so I thought she might really like a case, and she does!

it made me love my new sewing machine even more <3

and I really can't get enough of the purple cord fabric.
any suggestions of clothing items that are good in cord are appreciated.  all I have though of is a skirt and a hat.   it is lightweight so I wish I could think of a top style, besides some sort of blazer
