31  capelet inspired by the "anthropologie inspired capelet" in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: March 13, 2008 09:37:57 PM
HEY HEY! I recently went to Jamaica where my sister got married and the dress that I was/will wear is a black cute halter top which shows off my lady bits pretty nicely.... BUT, thats fine and dandy for HOT Jamaica but I have to wear the dress again up here in Canada at the wedding reception and if I am going to be wearing this dress all night I want some coverage... I like to keep my bits to myself ya know... SO, this capelet was started right before i went to Jamaica and then worked on while I was down there, then put on hold and recently finished with 1 week to spare before the shin dig.... ANY WAYS. I really enjoy the "anthropologie inspired capelet" but knew i didnt need the pattern since i could just do a top down raglan kinda like it....

Its knit with 1.8 balls of Patons Classic Wool Merino in Black on 7US 4.5 mm needles with 4 US needles for the garter stitch edges... i picked up and knit the button band it worked out well...  oh and the neck band just has a row of single crochet around it...
PICS!
yeah i know that with a low cut top my bits are still going to show but i shall feel more covered ya know!

i was trying to show here the yarn over increases that make the pretty raglanness... but you can only see 1 row of the eyelets...

ANYWHO. thanks for looking... it was a quick little project and when i wear it to the reception i will try and get some good pics of it at work...
its funny, some of the guests at the reception were in jamaica for the wedding and saw me knitting on this there.. now they will see the finished project! sweet!

thanks again!!!

33  A Felicity.... for the most part... in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: February 12, 2008 10:02:37 PM
I have been wanting the "Felicity" slouch hat forever now... saw the origin discussion about people wanting to figure out how to make it... and then someone did! so I followed the pattern, for the most part...

Discussion thread-http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=153618.0

I used Sirdar Country Style double knitting yarn
The pattern calls for worsted weight and this yarn is a little smaller, so i fudged the numbers a little... i cast on a few extra stitches (on a needles 1 size smaller then recommended, for both needle sizes called for) and did a few more increases and added a few more rows in between incs and decs... i REALLY like how it turned out... its nice and floppy and the yarn is brilliant and has great stitch definition and the drape is nice.. especially for the slouch...

well i think i covered everything...
spanks for looking...

35  New Robot Longsleeve shirt... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by spirals420 on: January 08, 2008 11:24:30 PM
I have not sewn something in a really long time... especially clothing... from scratch... so here goes.

I used some little kids pj fabric.. its got some stretch. not a whole lot... the cuffs and the bottom of the shirt is black ribbing.. its all i had... The hood is lined with soft pretty blue fleece. The shirt also has a half diagonal zipper...
its pretty funky... im happy.. i also sewed my finger while making this... yeah for sewing at 2 am.... but, i did not get any blood on what i was making.. so its A OK.

oh, and i was quite low on fabric so you can see on the one arm theres the selvedge end (or whatever its called) sticking out... Whoops... oh well.. the shirt still rocks...

so by no means is it perfect... and i dont think the fabric is going to last too long.. its pretty thin.... but it is mega fun and im going to rock the crap outta this funky shirt...

i have plans to make more fun shirts.... you might be seeing more of me.... maybe..
thanks for checkin er out... it was really fun to make... just playing around... any comments are appreciated. good and bad...

36  a few new knit hats... in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: January 08, 2008 11:16:08 PM
herow again...
i have tried something  new in the knitting world....  hard brimmed toques... i like it...

its knit with Patons Classic Merino Wool and i made up the pattern, but if you are looking for this style of hat there is a pattern for one in the new Son of Stitch n Bitch book... check er out.

This hat is knit from Patons SWS yarn. I knit it on the bus while heading down from  far eastern side of BC, Canada to San Francisco.... almost 2 days on the bus... there and back... yuck.. but lots of knitting time...

This one i knit for my mom for christmas... she gets a new hat every year and this time she asked for a pom pom...
Its knit with Patons Classic Merino Wool

This isnt the best picture of this hat... Its knit with Noro Kureyon and the black is Patons Classic Merino Wool... Its for my little sister. she wears her hair in a pony tail often so i found some hats online that had ponytail holes and used them as inspiration...

This is the back view.... it would be better if i had hair to stick threw the hole... but you get the idea... the bottom closes with velcro tab so she can adjust the hat...

This hat i knit for my older sister... i wanted to try something new. i really like the butterfly stitch on hats i had seen recently so i looked up a nice one posted here on craftster and followed the pattern found.... here... http://aliceindilbertland.blogspot.com/2007/11/butterfly-hat.html
Its knit with Patons Classic Merino Wool (suprised?)

fewf! thanks for looking! ask any questions please!

this is a picture of the sweater he found online that he was liking the look of..

except for the hem's on the cuff and at the waist it would be more like...
http://brainylady-knitting.blogspot.com/2007/01/saddle-shoulder-sweater.html

38  Even more hats... oh and a scarf.. img heavy sorry. in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: November 10, 2007 10:27:20 PM
still knitting the from the stash... so more random hats... and a scarf
this ones knit from noro and patons classic wool merino

this ones knit from oh i forget the name... hmm well its on ravelry for all those with it im far too lazy at the moment..

this ones knit from noro.. like a ball and almost a half i guess...

this scarf was knit for me out of necessity. its chilly here in the mountains! its just a simple mindless garter stitch scarf but i think it shows off the yarn really nicely.. mmmm purple.

i have been broke ass and told myself im only allowed to knit from stash. i own alot of random balls of yarn so its basically alot of random hats and such... i think a pair of mittens will be coming soon for me.. but right now im currently knitting a friend a scarf using the "snowballs chance in hell" graphs.. its pretty sweet.
thanks for lookin ya'll!

40  Black and White Checkered Hat with pattern in Knitting: Completed Projects by spirals420 on: October 28, 2007 11:07:08 AM
----> I have revised the pattern and re-released it on a FREE PATTERNS BLOG that I have started up! have a LOOK!  http://knitallthethings.blogspot.com/2012/03/checkered-toque.html
I am still currently fixing up the blog but the info is there with links to here and to Ravelry pages.

Since I have had a few requests for a pattern for this hat i figured i would start a new topic for it and focus on just this hat... so anyways... here's the pictures of it followed by my attempt at pattern writing...

and one that i have made previously in red and black just to show another color...

Yarn- Patons Classic Wool Merino (worsted weight)
(i used like half a ball of each color ish)
Needles- US 4 (3.5mm) circular needle or DPNS
             US 7 (4.5mm) circular needles and/or DPNS
GAUGE- 5 sts per inch
Other supplies needed- Yarn needle for weaving in ends and stitch markers to mark the beginning of the round as well as where to decrease.

Pattern-
-Using the smaller needles cast on 84 stitches put marker (pm) at beginning of round and being careful not to twist, join in the round and Knit 2 Purl 2 ribbing for 1 inch
-Next round change to bigger needles (the rest of the hat will be knit, no purling) and increase 12 stitches evenly on this next round. (i used the m1 increase)
-This round bring in your contrast color (white) *knit 2 stitches in white, 2 in black* and continue the round knitting 2 stitches of each color being careful not to pull the carrying yarn too tight.
- Do a second round in the same k2 white k2 black
- This next round *knit 2 black then knit 2 white* and continuing that around for this round and the next
-Follow these last 4 rows until the hat measures 6 inches from needle to bottom of ribbing.
- put marker (pm) every 16 sts around the hat this is where the decreases will be made
- keep knitting keeping with the checkered pattern but make sure to decrease (k2tog) before each marker every round up until there is 6 sts left on the needles (2 sts per DPN). To get the black lines like i did use the black yarn to knit the decreases (or you could use the white) each time even if it didnt keep with the checkered pattern.
- when those last 6 sts are on the needles cut the yarns and using the yarn needle thread the tail through the last few stitches pulling them in tight and then weaving in the ends.. and thats about it...

Please go over this and ask any questions if something needs clarifying.. its early and im just going by whats in my head.. i didnt take any notes for this when i was writing it...

thanks everyone!
