2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / The lucet? on: August 02, 2012 11:28:22 AM
Hello there! I've got another little question. I recently learned what a lucet is, and it's main use is to knit cording. Does anyone know if perhaps, bigger or thicker things can be made with a lucet?
3  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Glassmaking and Creativity on: July 19, 2012 11:19:28 AM
Hi there. Recently I've been seriously thinking about taking a glass/lampworking class, and I have just a few quick questions: How creatively satisfying is the craft?
What type of projects can be made with glass and it's processes?
Thanks to all who reply!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Silly Little question That Means A LOT on: July 18, 2012 10:45:38 AM
Hi there fellow knitters! I have not posted any projects since around April and even though being I've been off school since the last week of June, I haven't touched any yarn. Outside it is very hot, and when it comes to knitting or crocheting that depresses me b/c well, what's the point? What's the point of knitting or crocheting since whatever you make can only be worn comfortably during the cold seasons? I've been stuck in this funk for so long, and I'm ready to come out!
So please knitters, tell me: What makes knitted things so warm?
Is there anything else one can knit with besides yarn?
Is there a type of way or process to knit that won't make things stuffy or too warm?
Thank-you to anyone who can help!
5  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Another Curious Question on: July 17, 2012 04:11:23 PM
Hello again, lately I've really been looking into weaving and seriously want to take a class, but I have another question. Is it possible to weave a 3 dimensional object on a loom? Please excuse how ridiculous this sounds!
My problem is that I've been feeling a little down in the dumps b/c as the hot weather reigns, my usual crafts, knitting and crocheting aren't piquing my interest as they used to. So I've been searching for a preferably textile craft to click with. I keep going back to looking at images and videos of handwoven things, but I keep on seeing the same rectangular shape over and over (I mean no offense to the amazing weavers here). Is there any way to spice things up? Have you or anyone you know ever experimented with another process?
It sucks being blue in summer, so any type of anything helps, a thousand thank-yous.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First Sweater! on: April 15, 2012 02:36:23 PM
When I started crocheting, I told myself that I would never go with the status-quo. Never would I want to even consider making solely doilies, scarves, mitts, even sweaters. Recently I decided to challenge myself and try to make my own wardrobe (since I craft every second I get). What I realized was that I really needed some more sweaters! And that was that!
You may recognize the yarn I used, it's from a backpack I crocheted in a previous post. the backpack didn't "work out" but, I swear I've been using the same beige Vanna White yarn for three months, knitting then unraveling, crocheting, then unraveling!! Hopefully this project will stay in place!

The core of the sweater is knit b/c I meant to knit most of it, but I ended up crocheting more, so it's only fit to put it here, right? Wink
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sweet Blue Sixteen on: April 01, 2012 06:14:22 PM
Attention Craftster! I am 16 as of March 30, and couldn't be happier! And if your wondering, no I honestly don't feel different physically Wink But my crochet mentality has sure come a long way. I decided a long time ago that I was going to crochet my sweet sixteen dress, and happily did so from March.19 to March 23 (which was the last week of Spring Break).
I'm also quite excited to say that this dress is inspired by Avatar (my most favourite movie in the world!). You can probably see it in the beading, I made sure to buy tribal inspired beads and such. A confession: I became quite lazy over the last days of spring break and wasn't as generous with my beading as I wish I was! But no matter what this dress will always have a special place in my heart!

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / C&B on: March 10, 2012 10:22:09 AM
C&B= Cowl and Backpack!
I couldn't be prouder of my backpack! First one I've ever made, and I plan on using it 'till it falls to the ground. As for my cowl, it was supposed to be a tunisian crocheted purse, but there's no loss there!

Thanks for looking!
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Miles of Headware! on: March 10, 2012 10:16:59 AM
So once again I find myself crocheting hats, LOTS! Usually this would annoy me, but I decided to give myself some variety and made some headbands too Roll Eyes. There is something important about these recent hats too, I made a batch of 12 to donate to the maternity ward of the hospital my aunt works in. I am very happy about that Cheesy.

10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Tunisian Crochet Hat? on: March 10, 2012 08:45:16 AM
I have a question about making hats with Tunisian Crochet; can you make one with only the one hook or with multiple (like knitting)?
Anything helps thanks!
