21  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Suggestions for Jazzing up plain heels? on: March 03, 2005 11:36:18 AM
I'm going to a wedding on saturday and need to get a pair of shoes to go with my black dress. I am a poor college student so I was thinking of just getting a cheap plain black pair and adding a little personality to them. Any suggestions?  Yes it's only 2 days away so I guess it would have to be relatively simple.
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Crocheted (sp?) Poncho on: February 27, 2005 05:40:55 AM
Yes I have yet another question.

I don't know how to crochet (teehee) but I'm pretty ambitious about it and I really don't think it would be so hard to learn.  My question is about makeing a crocheted poncho does anyone have a pattern?  I wouldn't know how to make one since I'm new to the crocheting world.  I want it to be larger like a big warm blanket.. not like the lighter stylish ponchos you see in the store.

23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Apron tops, dresses, panel skirts... help! on: February 26, 2005 06:34:05 PM
Hi all.. this is my very first post. (yay!) And I have to comment on how awesome this site is being a crafty person at heart myself.. that being said I'll move on to the actual topic of this post..

I'm very much interested in making my own clothes especially apron tops, panel skirts, and dresses.  I guess it's sort of the new age Hippie style and I just love it.  Here's some sites that sell their own stuff for examples http://www.goodkarmacreations.com and http://starlygirl.com/

I am more interested in the simple panel or patchwork skirts tops..etc. than the complicated looking ones.  But are they really that simple?  I'm a beginner at sewing and I haven't gotten a machine just yet but I will be just as soon as I can come up with the cash.  Also, do I need a serger to make this kind of thing?

One more question.. I love those peasant tops that I think are made out of linen and embroidered on top..
here's what I'm talking about http://www.soul-flower.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GTA004&Category_Code=T
Does making these involve an embroidery machine? I'd love to make one. I can't believe I found this one even i can never find these..

Any tips would rock my socks. thanks.  Smiley
