1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Any advice about Zazzle? on: December 13, 2010 05:30:36 PM
I want to make an iphone case for my husband for Christmas, but I can't find any instructions for a non-girly, sturdy one. I was thinking about making one using Zazzle but I'm not sure about the quality... Has anyone ever tried using their site before? Is it worth it? Any advice?

2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: What is your fave quick to prepare, grab-and-go road trip food? on: November 18, 2010 08:01:11 PM
I definitely love the sandwiches, and if it's a short trip (like we're running from home to an event and need to eat on the run) I like to make chicken and cheese tortilla roll ups. Toss some pre-packaged (fully cooked) grilled chicken and shredded cheddar in a tortilla (add a bit of salsa and sour cream if you want) heat, wrap and go! It's filling and not messy! And you can cook several at a time!

Oh my gosh, these are great! I love the idea of tossing a little bit of candy in there, too. I REALLY like the vintage feel you managed.  What the heck is german glass glitter??  In the photo it looks like it's kind of... long, for lack of a better word. Almost like tiny bits of tinsel?

Oh my gosh! LOVE! You could also put it on a fabric headband and make it a hairpiece! Well, not a "hairpiece", nobody wants a rug on their head, but you know what I mean. I would TOTALLY wear it as a brooch, though!! SO super cute. I can see it on a cardigan, or with a thin knit turtleneck. Agh! SO CUTE!

HA HA HA! ROFLMAO! That is AWESOMELY HILARIOUS! I love that you included victims, too! hee hee hee. And the tin is a nice added touch. Oh, I just love it. I have TONS of Christmas spirit, and I'd still love getting that, just for the sheer fact that it's hilarious!

Oh, a blanket for my dad of his favorite team.  Hmmm... That's a good plan! He has one quilt (which is older than dirt and I have no idea who made it!) that he uses to cover up with, but he needs a good, manly blanket, right? I really like that idea, too. Now I'm on idea overload for my dad!

karaann07 - there's no meat in mince pies, thought I should point that out! Not for about 200 years anyway. Just lots of dried fruit, spices and alcohol Smiley

Ha ha ha. I think I actually kind of knew that, deep down, but I still can't help but automatically think that! There was an episode of the tv show Friends where Rachel made a mince pie, and the pages of the cookbook got stuck together and she really did end up putting minced meat in it. I think that was how I learned it isn't REALLY in there!

Ooooh, I love the cheese crock idea! That is a really good idea! I think my dad might really like something like that, too. Crackers and sausage and some homemade spicy "dips". I really like that! This gift idea just moved to #1 on my list of ideas for my dad! He always just wants shirts for Christmas.  Roll Eyes

Husband and I are going to buy each other a laptop. That I will use for school.  And that he can use when I let him. Ha ha.

I'm only doing a few crafted items so that I don't overwhelm myself this year!

DD1: TOYS!
DD2: BABY TOYS and clothes.
Various nieces and nephews: TOYS TOYS TOYS
Mom: DD1 and I will make her a "stained glass" votive, along with some cookies
Dad: I'm not sure! I'll have to read through some of the ideas on here to see what you all are making and see if I can adapt anything so DD1 and I can make him something together. He is a big coffee drinker, so maybe I'll paint a mug, or have a photo mug printed up of the girls?
Godmother for DD1: Another "stained glass" votive. These two are very close, and I know her Godmother will treasure this.
Godmother for DD2: stilllll thinking! The baby is only 8 months, so I'm not sure. Maybe I'll make a handprint ornament for Godmother's tree??

Definitely doing to have to say no on the mince pies. And I think I'm okay with that.  Grin But I'm excited about the pudding. I'm definitely going to have to try that this year, so I will keep you posted. The big things here for Christmas is either a turkey or ham, and then the homemade cookies or candies. It's common to have big, huge cookie exchanges.
