My brother and his wife are having a baby boy in the next five weeks. I would like to knit some things for the new baby, but I'm not sure what. I've been thinking about perhaps making some booties, a blanket, hat, etc. I would like to ask all of you moms out there what you think is the most useful. Your feedback will be much appreciated.
I'm looking for a pattern (either sewing or knitting) to make a short sleeved cardigan sweater that is only long enough in the back to cover the shoulder blades. That's the best I can describe it. If I knew what the actual name for those things are, it would be easier to look for a pattern. I don't want one that buttons...just something to lightly cover my shoulders and upper arms. Please let me know if you know of a pattern or what these things are called.
Ok, I feel like an idiot for asking this, but I did a search and couldn't find an answer.
I bought a pound of yarn (I don't have it in front of me, so I'm unsure of the size.. I just know that I have to use a US 9 size needle) and I have no idea how many yards there are of it. It doesn't say it ANYWHERE on the label. Just says there is 1lb of it. Does anyone have at least a guestimate of how many yards it would have? I just want to know if I'm going to need to go buy more for this blanket I'm knitting. I don't want to run out of yarn mid-project and go to the store and not be able to find it again, but I don't want to buy extra yarn and not need it.
My mom is going to make me a knitting tote for Christmas, but she told me that if I wanted her to make one, I had to find her an easy pattern (she has arthritis) I also need to find a tutorial for one of those knitting needle holder thingies...the kind that rolls up and has little slots for all the needles. I don't know what they're actually called, so it's kinda hard to make a search for them. I thought about giving her a tutorial for a jordy bag, but I want to find one that'll be sure to fit a couple of skeins of yarn and my roll up of knitting needles. Any suggestions?
I'm getting a new kitty in a few weeks.. she's a little older (about 7 years old) and I want to make her some stuff so she feels as spoiled as possible.. She's coming from a cattery that has about 25 cats, and she's "retired" (from cat shows and breeding) so now it's her turn to be spoiiled (Not to worry...the cattery she's coming from doesn't use cages for cats...they pretty much have their own section of the house) I think she has to be the prettiest maine coon I've ever seen, and I want her to feel as welcome in my home as possible. Any suggestions? I haven't had a cat in a long time, so I can't think of what to get or make (besides the essentials.. litter box, food..) I was thinking about making her some toys, but I don't know...
Ok, so I was happily surfing the web like usual, and I came across this necklace and fell in love with it.. I unfortunately can't afford to spend a $28 on a necklace, so I decided to make something of my own. My question is.. where in the world do you find wire like that? I cannot seem to properly identify it. Help please?
Alright..I have a bit of a dilemma.. I want to decorate something with origami paper, but I need something bigger than the two sizes that I normally find (I can't remember the exact dimensions) I want to say it's 6" X 6". Anyway, I need paper BIGGER than that, but I'm having a difficult time finding it. Any suggestions would be more than welcome!!
I happen to be in a long distance relationship with someone (actually, most of our actual relationship has been spent apart but we've been friends for a while so...) Anyway! He's away at college, and I wanted to make him a box of miscellaneous stuff.. I'm going to decoupage a shoe box or something similiar and put pictures, maybe some blank envelopes, stationery, and stamps in it... any ideas as to what else I should put in there? I don't need to send him a phone card or anything like that because we share a cell phone plan so we could talk to each other free all the time. Any ideas would be more than welcome
I have decided to redecorate my bedroom...at the moment, I just have a queen-size bed with blue blankets (that I don't particularly care for) that just has the frame underneath and a piece of junk side table that is dark brown (made from particle board.) It's pretty plain.
I would like for my bedroom to look more "romantic." I plan on using lots of red. I want to have one of those bedrooms that are so cozy, you never want to leave. My bed is super super comfy, and I plan on buying extra comfy blankets and pillows...I was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions to give it that added touch.
