1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / "Applique" Nekobasu (Catbus) t-shirt! on: July 29, 2010 02:30:37 AM
My first craftster topic!

So for my boyfriend's birthday, because he is a big fan of Miyazaki movies, I made a sort of applique decorative nekobasu that I then sewed onto a blank t-shirt.

All the fabrics are used were from old pillowcases and tea towels from op-shops, which was a bit of a pain because not all of them were apt for cutting into tiny pieces to attach to something else, and frayed and fell apart.. but i persevered!

I didn't intend on making the yellow border, but it was the biggest part of spare fabric I had lying around, and I needed a base. The plan was to sew the edges under the main design but I ran out of time. It is pretty loosely sewn onto the t-shirt so I can go back and do it later.

Anyway! here are the pictures:

This is the catbus itself. Sorry this is so blurry, i'm not so good at iPhone (I took about 4 photos of this, in the hope one turned out ok and this was the best one.. Sad )

And of the body. I didn't do the diamond design, that came from the pillowcase fabric I was using (one of the reasons it was a pain)

And my model, who as you can see is very comfortable with having his photo taken for the internet Wink

Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoyed.
