    That Compton Hipster Thing

We are a creative group looking to host an "Urban Flea Market" in Compton.  Our mission is to expose people to the "other" side of Compton, by bringing together crafters, vintagers, artists and hipster types together.  Basically we are bringing the "indie urban scene" to light.

We are looking for vendors to participate in "That Compton Hipster Thing".  Maybe you sell vintage clothing, screenprint posters, or make indie crafts.
The date of the event is going to be February 20th 2011 enought time for you to restock, create and design items.  Booths are only $25 dollars, and tables can be provided if one is needed.

    We are looking for:
    • indie crafts
      vintage clothing
      Artists
      letter press
Or anything else that you believe will fit in at a creative indie event

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Bow Tutorial on: December 13, 2010 03:10:29 PM
so i asked my mom how to make a bow... She just about rolled her eyes at me and said, "Why do you need a bow"...

Moooom  I need to make some 80's ankle zipper jeans with bows on the back.. Duh.

So I look on the good old interwebs and I had to make do, because I couldn't find anything that made since.. anywhooooo... Here is my Tute on bows.

First find your fabric, any fabric works but I used denim because that is what I was feeling for.

(Yes I do my hobbies at work, and that is my desk)...

Next, meet the 2 ends at the middle.  Make sure the pieces overlap a bit to meet in the middle. You want even bow ends yea?

Next you want to simply sew up the middle... Sew so that the needle goes all the way through the back of the "bow"... Try to keep the line straight. If its a little wonky, no big deal.

Okey dokey... Now you want to get your cinched look on.  Be careful with this part, But don't stress.  Pull the end of the thread drawing the string tight.  This will force the fabric to gather.  Be careful, your string will break if you get to wild.  Also this is where that straight stitch helps.  You might have to aid the fabric a bit.

Now wrap the thread around and stitch thought the gathers once or twice.  Just to secure your thread in place. And keep your stitch tight.

Next take a strip of whatever fabric and simply wrap it around the middle of your bow.  I tied mine in the back, but you can stitch it or whatever tailors best to your craft.

And there you go! You have yourself a bow for your hair, gifts, jewelry, add ons, orrr like i used them for.  80's style jean bows.

Have fun, and thanks for reading  Kiss
