2  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Fun With Fused Glass Decals on: October 29, 2012 11:56:02 AM
Well, I've discovered the joy of fused glass decals.

They start off printed in a laser printer in black and end up fusing to a sepia brown tone.  Some people don't like this, but I don't mind.  I tend to like using French Vanilla as my base for the decal because I think it looks nice in the finished product.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / PMC Love... on: September 18, 2012 09:28:59 AM

I recently got a kiln for my birthday and the first thing I tried prior to fused glass was PMC.  I love this medium and the easy road to fun projects that it provides!!

This is one of my first batches of pendants that I made last year for my craft shows.  I used various rubber stamps and metal stamps that I found from my rubber stamping days, etc.  I particularly like the XO pendant which I made for a friend that has children named Xander and Owen.  However, I liked the hugs and kisses concept so much, I made one for myself and wear it as a double-charm necklace with the S pendant that is in the back row.  Wink

4  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / These Flowers Won't Make You Sneeze... on: September 18, 2012 09:16:05 AM
Had an idea to use my new high-temp wire for stems for flowers.  I fired up some cabochons and put them on a little piece of clear with one cabochon in the middle to hold everything together.  I'm not exactly sure of the use for these, but I like them a lot.  Haha!!  I think, if the wire doesn't rust too much, they'd be cute in a flower pot for extra decoration.
5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / First Two Firings in Kiln on: September 14, 2012 12:44:52 PM
So my friend gave me a kiln for my birthday (crazy, huh?) and it took me FOREVER to get up the nerve to use it for anything but PMC.  I love doing PMC, but it is so expensive and cost-prohibitive these days with the price of silver!!

These are the results of my first two firings.  Not perfect, but I liked how most of them turned out.  If you look in one of them, you can see where I accidentally positioned them too close together and I got a Siamese pendant!  Fun stuff, this glass fusing is!!!

6  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / My First Attempt at Slumping... on: September 14, 2012 12:42:25 PM
Took three tries, but I finally got this little plate to have a flat bottom so that it didn't wobble.  Took some changing in the slumping time and also how I set up the mold--(needed to be only on a post, not on a shelf).  It's hard to see, but there is an indentation in the middle of the plate.

On to the next project!
