1  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: I <3 Gibbous Altered Fashions sew-along! on: July 09, 2012 01:28:46 PM
Thank you, Lovesclutter, Loukr, and Suereal!

Making the yardage first DOES seem like a much more brilliant idea! And a lot less stress than chewing my fingers and hopehopehoping that I don't shrink the coat too much! And having a lighter end result WOULD be most advantageous! One of the first major adventures I plan on having with the trench is an adventure in a desert - so NOT walking around in a cast iron coat sounds like a good plan. Smiley

Thank you all again! I'll let you know how my quest goes, and hopefully I'll have pictures to post up here soon! *hugs* I appreciate your help and advice!
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap - June 2012 - GALLERY! on: July 06, 2012 01:17:10 PM
I have a ton of ATCs to post! I got them all at various times during the last week, but due to so many crazyscary thunderstorms attacking NW Ohio and constantly knocking my power out (and my internet out for longer!), I haven't been able to hop online and post them!

So here we go! Also, I apologize ahead of time - I took pictures of these cards about five separate times, and although I had beautiful lighting, some of them are a bit darker and just *slightly* blurred. After the fifth attempt, I gave up and just accepted that my phone is being silly. Soooo, if any of you lovely ladies took better pictures, please, feel free to post them! All of my ATCs are absolutely beautiful, and I'm afraid that my images don't due them justice!

First off, I got not one, but TWO Dreamcatcher ATCs from Pilarfarmer! Aren't they lovely? The one of the left is so incredibly neat - it is made from real sinew and leather, and has beautiful tiny beads! What a wonderful mixed media card!

Here is a neat one from Bunny1Kenobi! It's called "Who Was That Masked Man?" This one made me smile a LOT - it has some of the most famous masks - and it was fun to identify them! Can you guess them all? I was able to identify four of the six! But what a great idea!

Calluna sent me two ATCs too! The first one fits several of my themes - Panish, Mythical, Pagan Free Spirit! I gasped when I first saw it - it is so neat! Not one does it have Pan (or the Green Man!), but it also has a small figure in the corner that looks like they are dancing, glowing with a spiral of dots like energy coming out of their heart! Beautiful! The second is fantastic too, another Free-Spirit piece! And it is perfect! It shows a naked woman with her arms spread wide in delight, her clothes behind her. It's called "Escape". It made me giggle, cuz one of my jobs is as a fine-art nude model for artists, and that's how I always feel when I get to prance around without clothes - absolutely free! Thank you, Calluna!

And last, but CERTAINLY not least, is an amazing card from Sunnydawn! It's for my mythical creatures theme, and it is a centaur! The most delightful and adorable centaur, who I want to alternately hug and romp around on adventures with! Centaurs are one of my absolute favorite creatures, so I squeed when I opened this card! I wish my camera could have worked properly for this - the background is much more green than it appears in this pic!

Thank you soooooo much, guys! I absolutely love each and every card, and I feel spoiled with the extras that were included! You all have such talent, and I'm so glad I have little pieces of your art to add to my collection!

I have a question for those of you who have completed a Gibbous top! I've looked through ALL of the pages, and you guys mention that the fabric tends to shrink a LOT due to the layers. The trouble is, I want to make a Gibbous-style trench coat from scratch (which is intimidating enough, as I have very basic sewing skills!). I plan on creating the garment first, and then applying all of the interesting bits when it is completed. Trouble is, I don't know what size I should make it! I wear a size 2-3 normally, but I don't know whether I should make it equivalent to a size 4, a size 6, or even larger!

So my question is: roughly how much shrinkage did your projects undergo? I know that it all depends on how much you sew to your outfit, but I'm hoping that I can get a few different answers based on your personal experiences, so I can try to aim accordingly!

Thank you sooooo much for any help you might be able to give! Smiley

Squeee! I received not one, but TWO amazing ATCs from the lovely Jennden!

The first is a beautiful blue color, and this image doesn't do it justice! She included so many of my favorite things - moons and stars, pentacles, and the feathers have the most beautiful shimmer to them!

The second one is my favorite - my jaw dropped when I pulled it out of the envelope! She made me my very own dreamcatcher! The top is the exact size of an ATC - with lovely brown and tan beads in the most delightful tribal shades that match the feathers perfectly! And the center is a metal pendant with all sorts of stars!  I seriously did all sorts of happy squees when I saw it!

Thank you so much, Jennden! They are perfect!

Wow! Those Jack the Ripper cards are eerie and wonderful! I especially love the map of the murders - educational and interesting! But my favorite is the Face of Evil - the background is amazing (the beautiful writing! The blood spots!), and looking at what could be the face of such a murderer - gave me all the shivers.

And the Uranus atc! Oh man, I was giggling right along with that cute little planet! Smiley

This gallery is FILLED with so many beautiful and amazing and creative cards! So much fun, and so inspiring! ^_^
