1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / PacMan - Advent calendar on: November 29, 2013 09:07:57 AM
I am crafting a special advent calendar for my husband every year to match all those interest we share or the things he likes. After doing several calendars with favourite tv series or film as themes I decided to use his love for classic arcade games this year.

So here it is. My advent calendar version of PacMan. I'll put it up on saturday an he'll get to see it the next morning.

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Christmas gift ideas for the family :) on: November 05, 2010 02:04:18 AM
For your mom you could do a calendar with german shepherd pictures. Considering you have one of your own you could take pictures of him while playing in a park, sleeping, eating and so on. Or does your mom have a shepherd, too? Than you could take pictures of both of them toghether. Or you could do a silhoutte picture of him. And you could craft a Star Trek or Harry Potter memory game where she has to find the two matching cards. For this you could use her favourite characters...

For sister 1 I could recommend the Super Mario Coasters I saw around the community somewhere. Actually I am doing Super Mario Coasters together with my 4 yo boy for my husband. We are not stitching them but are using perler beads which is easier. Maybe you know what character your sister is in World of Warcraft. Than you could try to paint it.

For sister 2 and her fiance... maybe you could do a christmas licqor and present it in a nice bottle. Or you could give them a gift certificate where you promise to help them with there wedding, like crafting centerpieces or something like that.

Great quote and excellent needlework. I'm pretty amazed. Even if you did change the colors it totally rocks!
Where did you stumble upon this quote?
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / COMPLETED: all Challenge: Puff pastry - tomato - squares on: October 29, 2010 06:27:53 AM
I am new to this board but I thought I might as well try my luck in this challenge and share a really simple finger food idea.

Puff pastry - tomato - squares

Ingredients:
1 package of puff pastry
2 tomatoes, 1 garlic clove, olive oil, pepper & salt, some basil

Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 350F. Cut the puff pastry into 1.5 inch squares.
Cut the tomatoes into thin slices. Put the tomato slices on the puff pastry squares.
Season the squares with some pepper.
Place those squares on a baking tray which is covered with baking paper.
Put the tray into the oven for about 15 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.

Cut the garlic clove into small cubes. Cut the basil into small stripes.
Mix the garlic with some olive oil and basil stripes. Brush the squares with the olive-garlic-basil mixture and season with some salt.

Can be served either warm and cold.

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Tardis as advent calendar 2010 on: October 29, 2010 06:02:20 AM
I have been crafting advent calendars for my husband for over 10 years now. I have done nearly everything and this year I came up with this idea. I made an 8 inch Tardis out of cardboard, lots of glue and paint. It's not quite ready but I wanted to show it anyway.

Inside the tardis there will be 24 small & flat packages. These packages will contain a "Geekory" which will be a special set of memory game cards with lots of geeky stuff on them. I'll mix the cards so that he'll never get a complete pair in one day. But by the end he'll have a nice set.

6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: paint chips/samples?!?!?! on: October 29, 2010 05:58:51 AM
I have seen some great projects with paint chips. One was a cheap and easy way to have gift tags at hand. The paint chips were cut into tag form and a punch was used on them. If you have christmasy colours you could stock up on christmas gift tags.
And another project I saw was the usage of paint chips to make jewelry. The paint chips were cut into form and covered in mod podge dimensional magic. After trying a hook was attached to create ear rings.
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: My Cantaloupe Colored Craft Cave on: October 29, 2010 05:48:51 AM
What a great room. I envy you for having a room for crafting and for having such an organized space. I keep trying to sort my crafting stuff but it always seems to be cluttered everywhere. If I ever have a room just for crafting I'll borrow your ideas and try to make it as bright and organized as yours.

I love those coasters and I have seen some of them. I'll be trying to do similar ones with my 4 year old so that he too can give small presents this christmas. He loves the counting and the colours. I already designed different stars and mushrooms as a present for his father.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Firefly and Dr. Horrible knits on: October 29, 2010 05:07:09 AM
The penny gloves are fabulous. I really should be getting down to knitting.  Smiley Or maybe I'll "hire" my mother in law to do those gloves for me.  Grin
