11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Magazine Cut Out Shelf on: July 27, 2011 08:50:17 PM

This is a project I did several months ago and I never got around to posting it.
It was originally one of those shelves that had padded and fabric sides and the rest was painted black. Originally, I was just going to rip up the fabric padded sides and paint it black to match but I never got around to it and then I got the bright idea to cover it in magazine clippings.

The second shelf. Smiley DISNEY!

One side and the inside of the other side.

The other side and the inside of the other side.

The underside. Smiley "Recycle Your Style"

I glued the magazine pieces on with a regular glue stick then put several coats of polyurethane spray to make sure the pieces would stay on. There are a few places that are a little loose now though.

I haven't figured out exactly where to put it though.
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Pokeball Ear Muffs on: April 13, 2011 04:23:32 PM
**I wasn't sure where to post this**

My boyfriend and his band decided that they all needed to wear ear muffs for practicing so that they won't be hearing background noises while they practice. He had this pair of red ear muffs sitting around and both he and I are huge Pokemon nerds (members of our high school Pokemon Battle Club even). So we decided to paint his ear muffs to look like Pokeballs. We think the ear muffs turned out nice!

We didn't have the right materials to make the word POKEMON look right on the top and the paint on there dried so fast that it cracked and started to come off. Suggestion? I'm not sure what kind of paint we should have used or how we could get POKEMON on the top.

13  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / What do I do with these? I'm not sure how to describe them. on: February 23, 2011 08:25:23 PM

The blockbuster next door to me is going out of business and they had a bunch of these cardstock (maybe) DVD display pictures that they were throwing out but I figured I could do something with them. The only question is what do i do with them?

Suggestions please?
14  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Cute and Romantic "Why I Love You" Book Out Of Playing Cards on: February 17, 2011 04:46:36 AM
I know this has been done a TON and everyone is posting their versions but here is mine. I made this for my boyfriend and I honestly was debating whether or not to make it until literally the last minute. At 11 the night before Valentine's Day I decided to make this little book and I'm glad I did. It really tied together the whole present and almost made him cry when he read it.

The Front Cover:

PG 1: "You make me laugh"

PG 2: "BIG HUG"

PG 3: "Always fun"

PG 4: "Every day together is. . ."

PG 5: "The Best!"

PG 6: "Awesome moments"

PG 7: "You remember my favorites"

PG 8: "I always smile"

PG 9: "You believe in me"

PG 10: "Big dreams of our family"

PG 11: "Kisses trust and our past summer"

Back Cover: "Happy Together Forever"

15  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 59 ENTRIES / Cute Black and White Dress for My Valentine's Day Dinner. on: February 08, 2011 06:32:00 PM
There wasn't too much ugly about the dress except for the straps and the fact that it was too big. But the material called to me and I really wanted to make a cute dress to wear for Valentine's Day. My boyfriend thinks it looks great and personally, I'm super proud of myself.

I got the original dress for a cheap like $3 and I already had the lacy and the middle black material (lacy can from my OLD OLD OLD slip from when I was like 8 and the black was what was left of the silky pants that I bought to make the bow for my Lady Gaga costume.) The material for the shoulders, however, had to be bought new. But I only spent $2 on it so this is like a $5 dress. Smiley

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cute and Simple Little Pink and White Bracelet on: January 08, 2011 12:37:17 PM
I found a little silver bracelet chain but there were no charms on it or anything. I weaved a small white ribbon through every other loop in the chain and then a light pink ribbon through the remaining loops. I ended up getting this cute swirl effect.

17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Ugly Pink Heart From Ear Rings To Cute Necklace Charm on: January 08, 2011 12:31:51 PM
One of the ugly pair of ear rings that I took apart for my floppy disk ear rings had these ugly pink hearts on them. Once I removed the jump rings and the really short chain from both ear rings I was left with 6 ugly pink hearts in 3 different sizes. I took a medium sized one and wrapped this white string around it. I melted the ends of the string with a lighter and pushed the hot ends against the back of heart.

And tada! It's not ugly anymore:

18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 3D Glasses Turned Necklace on: January 08, 2011 12:20:57 PM
I've gone to see several RealD 3D movies and the 3D glasses are another thing like the floppy disks, interesting but not too much you can do with them. But I kept them anyways and this is what I came up with:

I pushed the lenses out and popped the arms off of the glasses. When I popped the arms off I realized that I was left with a loop on each side of the glasses so I put a regular necklace chain through the loops and added a second necklace chain to the first one so that I'd have my desired length.

I think this looks really cute with this baggy grey shirt I own.

19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / With These, I'm Always Safe. on: January 08, 2011 12:14:17 PM
These are kinda old. I made them my freshman year of high school out of Christmas ornament hooks and a set of large gold colored safety pins. I still like wearing them and I've had several people comment on them at school.

Tell me what you think in a comment please.
20  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A Nerd-Tastic Way to Use Those "Useless" Floppy Disks. on: January 07, 2011 11:12:30 PM
About a month ago I was sick to the point of wanting to curl up in a ball in my bed and drown in my sea of blankets.  Sad Instead of drowning in my bed, I helped my mom go through her storage unit and transfer her stuff from one unit to another, all the while I was miserably sick. Among one of the many boxes I found a huge container of FLOPPY DISKS!  Cheesy My mom wanted to throw them away but I saw a creative potential in them and kept them.
So then, I was stuck with a ton of floppys and no idea what to do with them. All google was telling me was use it as a coaster, or a magnet or put five of them together and make a pencil box. Sad Boring, to me at least.

So here's what I ended up making tonight.

1.

I used the center of two floppy disks and parts of an old pair of ugly ear rings.

2.

These are the top corners of a floppy disk. I had to add a hole to each one. I haven't added the actual ear ring part but this is the little charms for the ear rings. I don't have the parts to complete it.

I am absolutely in love with the first pair! I can't wait to wear them to school and show them off.  Grin

Update on the second pair:

I added the actual ear ring part. I found another pair of ugly ear rings and tore them apart.

Comment me telling me what you think? Please and thank you. Smiley
