41  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Shredded Tank Top on: November 01, 2011 05:07:51 PM
It started out as a medium regular men's tee shirt that I was shredding the back. Turns out the shredding wasn't going straight up the shirt but instead going towards the right. So I traced a tank top onto the front and back of the shirt so that the shredded part would go straight up.

Tell me what you think please. Smiley

44  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Duct Tape Hair Bows - Tutorial Included! on: November 01, 2011 04:52:12 PM
For the Duct Tape Challenge I made a a Duct Tape Wallet with a detachable bow that doubles as a hair bow. A few people asked me for a tutorial so here it is Smiley

1. Cut two strips of duct tape slightly longer than the length that you want you finished bow to be.
2. Put the sticky sides together to make your base piece. Try to get the long side edges as close to even as you can but if there's a little extra showing its alright. You most likely will have extra on the ends... Perfectly fine.
3. Cut the ends down to the length that you want your bow.
4. Cut a piece of tape that is slightly longer than your base piece and cut that piece into 4-5 skinny strips.

5 and 6. Take one of the skinny strips and fold it over the edge.
7. Do this for all sides and ends. You can do these in a different color even. DO NOT THROW AWAY EXTRA! You'll use some of it later.
8. Fold your base piece down the middle like a fan. I like to fold the middle in half then go from there, making sure the two halves match up in the number of folds and equally sized folds.

9,10, and 11: Take a skinny strip from earlier and wrap it around the middle once, ending on the side that you have decided to be the back.
12: Time for the bobby pin.

13: Open the bobby pin and place the remaining part of the strip between the two prongs about halfway. Make sure that the swiggly prong is the one that will be folded in toward the bow.
14: The rest of the strip will probably go around the bow a few more times. Each time take it between the prongs.
15 and 16: Done. Wear it in your hair, put it on a purse, whatever. Have fun. And since duct tape can be bought in so many different colors and designs, there's endless possibilities. Smiley
45  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." Anakin and Padm Costumes on: November 01, 2011 03:30:05 PM
For Halloween this year, I made my boyfriend and I Anakin and Padm costumes.

This is our costumes at full length. Smiley

Here's more pictures of the both of us.

Here's the one I'm most proud of, Anakin. This is without and with the robe on.

Amazingly, we didn't have any last minute fix-ups either. Smiley
Halloween is my favorite holiday and we had a blast.

I got teag's hearts yesterday but it was late so I didn't have time to take pictures and post it in the gallery. I will be doing that as soon as I get home from school today. Smiley

I really need to step it up and finish my hearts. I have 2 done and 1 (that I can't wait to see how great it turns out) in the process. SO much details though.

I hope my hearts are adequate, I seem to be getting through them really quick...made 21 of my 30 now

30 hearts, and 21 done?!  wow!!

I'm doing 16 total and have only three done.  I'm still in TX, traveling home on Friday, at which point i will have access to my craft room and all of my own stuff, so I'll be able to get down to work.
Well I have 5 partners and I'm making them 5 each but it wouldn't be fair for my jar to not have a touch of my own craft, so each type of heart I have made one of for me too! Hence 30 hearts!, I've made 24 now...I'm just struggling on my 5th type of heart, I wanted to do an amigurumi type one but I'm really short on stuffing and don't think I've enough to make 6...

You can use cotton balls or cut up socks.....No one will ever know.

I use fabric scraps for stuffing. Smiley I think it's awesome that I don't have to throw away any unusable small fabric pieces. Smiley

I just finished my first heart and I learned that I have to store them up high because the puppy wants it. I have four others drawn up. The drawings look awesome, I hope the hearts turn out just as well.
