1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Themed Advent Calendar Swap on: August 15, 2016 10:38:06 AM

I have ALWAYS missed this swap for one reason or another. ALWAYS! And I am always secretly impressed when crafters can manage holidays AND this ginormous swap. Like, whhhhyyyy would you do that to yourself?! Cheesy You are the bravest and most organized people I know! But I don't celebrate the holidays for personal reasons and I feel left out of the CHRISTMAS STOCKING SWAP and the ADVENT CALENDAR when they come up. Can't we just have these swaps be Seasonal or Themed instead of "Holiday"?

Same rules would apply. You'd sign up, get one partner, have two months (or more) to craft for one month of gift-opening goodies (including the calendar itself). Package can be sent in numerous smaller ones or in a large package once.

BUT! The gorgeous thing about it is, the theme can be customized to anything!  It can entail themes like Seasons, Favorite things, Books, Anime/Manga/Studio Ghibli, Movies, or Geekery. OR it can even be an "INSPIRATION swap" where there are card prompts instead of crafted 3-D things where each day the recipient would open a card and craft/write/meditate on the prompt. We can make it as big or as small as we like.

I just want to be part of one  Cheesy But I can't organize. Here's a link to the one MareMare hosted back in 2011:
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Scavenger Hunt Swap on: June 04, 2016 10:36:04 AM

I remember we had a few of these years back, where there was a list of fifteen or so "themes" and we have to craft within those themes a certain amount of points. Like, the one I participated in was a Twilight Scavenger Hunt swap and there were themes like "something Sparkly", "Hot and cold", "something with a B", "something to warm you up" and "something you could bite into". You got to choose 5 or so and craft based on your partner's questionnaire.

There was another one that was centered around YOUR hometown as well. Like "Your favorite place", "Local attractions", "A place that scares you" and "something from your childhood".

If we could come up with a good theme for this, would anyone be interested? Probably one medium and a few smalls and possibly July as a time frame? Keep it light and fun. Although I do miss those heavy crafting swaps sometimes  Roll Eyes I know, I'm insane in the membrane  Cheesy

List of ideas:
Specific Movie/book/TV series, Music, Nature, Seasons, Favorite Things, Cultural, Foreign Languages, Historical, Fantasy, favorite crafts,
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / The Romance of England Past Swap on: February 24, 2016 12:47:42 PM

I recently got caught up in the Downton Abbey series and fell in love with Edwardian England all over again. The dresses, the castles, the manners and sights and food...it's all so yummy!! I think everyone should have a little bit of Regency/Victorian/Edwardian in their home. Think "Pride and Prejudice" splendor, "Downton Abbey" elegance, "A Little Princess" frills!

What about swapping one grandiose large/medium item (2-3+ hours work) and two more understated smalls (1 hour or so) to celebrate the Romance of England Past? I won't be able to host the swap but I would join if someone likes the idea enough to pick it up  Grin C'mon, who doesn't like a little bit of Jane Austen?  Wink

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / David Bowie Tribute swap? on: January 11, 2016 08:19:40 AM
It was announced on January 10th that the legendary singer, David Bowie, has ended is battle with cancer and passed on  Sad Cry Wouldn't it be wonderful if we held a tribute swap for him to remember the man as he was? He did so many things! Labyrinth was my personal favorite and there could be a swap just about that but David was much more than just a movie.

I can't organize but I'm putting the idea out there in case someone would like to pick this up and run with it  Smiley
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / I miss that SOOOOO much!!! Swap Gallery on: December 02, 2014 03:25:36 PM

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Advent Calendar Swap?? on: November 17, 2014 11:58:01 AM
I realize that this is probably way late in the month to be bringing this up since I think the Advent Calendar swap usually does the crafting in November and then opens everything in December but I'm kinda hoping people will be up for it regardless of the time of year  Cheesy I saw a matchbox advent calendar recently and it pinged on my radar that there hasn't been one of these in recent memory.
I don't think I'm willing to host something this huge but I wanted to put the feelers out for interest. I really look forward to this swap every year but for the last two I don't think there's been one  Cry And I've never participated.

Thoughts, comments and opinions are welcome  Grin

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / I miss that SOOOOO much!!! Swap on: August 31, 2014 01:23:59 PM

Ever crave to have more of a TV series, Movie, Video Game, Book series that used to be popular but has sadly been forgotten? Twilight? Gilmore girls? Naruto? Mine Craft? Tiger's Curse Saga?

Maybe we should have a swap to ease the cravings a bit!!!  Cheesy

Everyone will have a list of their top 5 TV shows, movies, books, video games (whatever) that they miss the most and partners will have to research (a bit) and craft from that list.

~maybe do 1 large/medium and 3 smalls?

~Possibly beginning October for sign-ups depending on popularity
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Seasonal Scavenger Hunt Craft swap on: July 29, 2014 01:34:29 PM

I wondered how many others out there wanted to have a swap that was just for seasonal things: Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. You can get ready for the Fall season or hold on to Summer a little bit longer ^^ Or start early on gift giving.

~I thought it might be fun to do a scavenger swap style as well since it's usually more challenging to find certain items in certain seasons (like flip flops in Fall  Cheesy)

~Was thinking maybe late August/early September after school madness has calmed a bit and before the crazy holidays stuff kick in Tongue

~Make it a 4-6 point swap so crafting at least 1 medium or large (or something that takes 2 hours or more)

~Some examples of Scavenger Hunt swaps:

  Yarnies Scavenger Hunt

  Fabric Lover Scavenger Hunt

  Twilight Crafty Scavenger Hunt

Am open to amendments and suggestions on this of course  Cheesy
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Holiday/Seasonal Notecard swap? Get started early!! >:D on: November 08, 2013 07:50:09 AM
I don't know how you feel about it but in my opinion it's so depressing getting those plain boring cards in the mail with the generic "happy holidays" printed on the inside with a "love, (insert name here)" =\ I'm sure it's fast and easy to throw in an envelope but it's so IMPERSONAL.

Why not get more personal? Cheesy

I realize there might be families that are very large and a little notecard swap like this one won't cover a lot of members but to those closest to you, what a surprise to get a hand made card!!

It'll be a quick, easy, and lightweight swap for the out of states swappers ^^

~We could do either ONE partner and send more cards or TWO partners and send less cards a piece.
~Can do any size, depending on partner preferences
~Envelopes are a MUST to send along with cards
~One month crafting time

(Note: Can't organize yet but still wanted to throw out the idea in case someone wanted to pick up the challenge Wink )

Whatcha think?  Cheesy
