Mine did the same thing. I bought it early last year and after I moved in August '10 I noticed that the ends have cracked and one side chipped. Well actually my husband noticed it when I was setting up to work with my clay. Of course he said that he will have to buy me another but I don't wanna waste money if another one will do the same.
I started a new sculpt and I was hoping to have a fairy. I tried everything to get the eyes set right but this is how they wanted to be. Guess I'll just let the clay do what it wants and go with the flow. After working on it for a bit I noticed that it was the ugliest fairy that I have ever seen. LOL So I changed gears and now I have Graveyard Willie. This may sound weird but he has been talking to me. So here he is.
They look like she transferred a picture to the clay and covered the picture with liquid clay or a very thin layer of translucent clay. To attach she may have put a loop on the underside and sewed it on. Just a guess I could be wrong.
