1  I'm a LITTLE obsessed with wreaths lately. in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by EVILTWIN617 on: October 29, 2010 01:48:43 PM
This is like the 4th wreath I've made recently.  This one cost less than 10 bucks!

3 Packages of crepe paper leaves from Dollar Tree
1 Floral/Pumpkin pick from HobLob on sale for 1.99
Cardboard gift box left over from last Xmas - Free
Scrap of ribbon (mere pennies)
Feathers found in my yard - Free
"Jewel" marbles leftover from last wreath project (pennies)
Plus 3 oreos to bribe my teenager to "crinkle" the leaves for me.

And another one - more cutsey, but also more expensive.

Styrofoam wreath form - 5 bucks
Pom Pom yarn - another 5 bucks
Googley eyes - 2.99 for a huge pack - I have tons left over.

Hope you like!

2  What do Ikea and Jenga have in common? in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by EVILTWIN617 on: October 27, 2010 01:11:06 PM
Why, my latest project of course!

Take 2 plain MALMA mirrors --2.99ea. at Ikea (okay, I got mine at Goodwill for 99 cents).

Take 1 old JENGA game -- Actual retail price - Huh?  (again, got mine at Goodwill for 1.99 and the kids NEVER played it)

Paint the pieces, and the frame of the mirror if needed (the ones I got were the bright red ones, so the color pallete didn't go)

Hot glue on in a pleasing pattern, and hang.

Painting mirrors is a pain!  The first one I did I taped then painted, and when I pulled off the tape, you could still see the RED reflected in the mirror, so the second one I didn't tape at all, and I sort of smooshed the paint under the edge of the frame where the mirror was.  No reflection, but now I have to scrape the paint off the mirror.  But whatever works for you.  No pressure.

Finished project:

Photographing mirrors is hard too - you always get that annoying glare!!

3  Jeweled Fall Wreath in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by EVILTWIN617 on: October 26, 2010 02:31:23 PM
My house needed some fall!  So I got a styrofoam wreath form, painted it a bronze metallic color, then hot glued on a ton of those little flat marble/jewel things you put in vases, tied a pretty organza ribbon around it and voila!  Fall is here.

The candlesticks are all recycled from Goodwill and were mismatched.  A couple of coats of Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze paint and they look like they belong together!

Since I'm new, it won't let me post a picture, so there's a link.  Hopefully it'll work.
