1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Picnic Blanket Help! on: May 22, 2012 08:10:52 PM
The options you've mentioned are useful if you want a waterproof backing that is wipe clean, but they are pricey and I've only used vinyl and it can be difficult to work with. If I was making a picnic blanket, I'd use a plain, decor weight fabric - maybe a canvas or curtain fabric. Nice and sturdy to help the blanket hold it's shape. I'm not to fussed if I get grass-stains etc on the back of a picnic blanket (just through it in the washing machine!) and I wouldn't really use it on wet ground, so don't think waterproof fabric is really necessary (but that's just my opinion!).

I've got a 1yo and 3yo - congrats on finding time to sew!

Love the cutting table! That is the one thing I'd really love, and after we move house, I really have to work out a way to have a proper cutting table. I use the dining room table a lot, but then I have to take care to clean up any sticky messes my two kids have left on the table! I love the way your table can hide away and you have a useful bed underneath.

Congrats on making your space work for you!

So cute! And the neck is so good for a little baby's hand to hold onto.
