21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Mickey Mouse Applique Quilt on: October 14, 2011 04:54:35 AM
Thanks for your compliments.

I still haven't decided to send or not.

If I wait long enough--waiting will determine the outcome. . .

I would wait and give it to them in person.  You worked so hard, and I think you deserve to see the look of delight on their faces when they open it.
Thanks.
I'm leaning just the tiniest bit toward waiting. . . but its nice for them to share it at the shower, too.  And I feel bad that I won't be there.

I designed this quilt for my cousin who is having his first baby and is a WDW fan.
I'm relatively new to applique and I was really happy with this--especially the center silhouette of Mickey.

I also managed to free motion Mickey Heads in the colorful squares.  They aren't perfect, but I'm happy with them.

Close up of Mickey Head prior to quilting.

PS--If you know my cousin--don't tell him.  I haven't given it to him, yet.

I can't make it to his shower.  I would love to see them when they get it.  Should I wait to give it to them when I will be there?  Or send it to the shower?

Designed, Machine Pieced, Applique and Quilted by me.

Oh, it's gorgeous.  I'd use it as a table runner.  It'd look beautiful on a wooden table.

I agree.  This would look really pretty on a dark wood buffet.
