I totally agree you have to be fully confident that your pet will be good.  My guy was a service dog so he was very very well trained.  You never know how they are goin to react.  My adoptive dads sister had her dog take off running with the rings still attached!!  They never found the rings and took them a week to find the dog

When I got married in Vegas my 120 pound pit bull gave me away ( I have no family)  We got him a top hat and tails style tux too.  Elvis sang to him and it was nothing short of amazing.  Also the dogs can be used if you have any kids there that get squirmy or cry

Petco sells cat chew sticks, I was just there and saw them.  They are flavored in chicken or whatever else and they are supposed to be good for their teeth and maybe if he has something to chew on he wont go for the cords.

Good Idea on the clasp!!  I was looking at some at the pet store and there was elastic attached to one end so it would streach if they did get caught.  I really like the ribbon idea.  I was thinking taking the ribbon and sewing the elastic on each end so it goes over his head and there is no buckle to get caught in his fur (theres a lot).

HI everyone I adopted a 10 year old Himalayan cat yesterday and I got my first sewing machine last month!!  I was wanting to make him a collar since the ones for cats at the petstrores are too small and the dog ones don't look comphy.

I wanted to make a simple collar for him as he will not be growing anymore

What kind of fabric is suggested to make them with?
