11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My New Go-To Treadmill Knits on: February 19, 2014 04:52:24 PM
I find it much easier to get through walking on the treadmill if i have something in my hands. Especially something easy.

Such as:

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Garter Stitch Hats on: February 19, 2014 04:46:47 PM
I mentioned a couple posts back that January was a very garter stitch month for me... Here are a few of the other garter stitch hats i made in January.

I've had the purple and green for probably almost 3 years now. I love them together and couldn't find that right project for them. But i'm pretty happy with this.

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Chunky Tweed Beanies on: February 19, 2014 04:35:25 PM
A couple years ago, i walked into Michaels and there was some thick and thin yarn, which i'd never seen, on sale. It's called Horizon Tweed, but it's discontinued. I chose two colorways and bought 2 skeins of each.

This last November, i still had all 4 skeins. Hats are my favorite things to make, so i gave that a shot.

French Lavender:

I cast on with size US 10 1/2 needles, and after a few rounds switched to US 11s.
Super warm. Super comfy.
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Rikke Hats on: February 19, 2014 04:17:34 PM
I was really into garter stitch throughout January. Still am, but it's quieted down a bit.

So i made these Rikke Hats, by Sarah Young.

Although I do have US 7s, i do not have US 4s. So, instead i decreased the stitch count a bit and i think i used US 6s and US 9s.

It's a nice, easy pattern. I would recommend it.
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Pea Pod on: June 25, 2013 09:50:47 PM
Since long before my brother and sister-in-law had a baby, they referred to their future child as Sweet Pea. Naturally their baby needed a pea pod cocoon.

I used a pattern from Ruby Knits, with some slight alterations... which i can't remember anymore.

Oh, but instead of US15 needles, i used US11, as that is what i had... But somehow i hit her gauge, so it worked.
16  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby Yoda on: June 25, 2013 09:32:31 PM
For my nephew's 8-month hat, my sister asked for Yoda. A Father's Day surprise for my brother-in-law, a huge Star Wars fan.

17  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Loki-inspired Coffee Sleeve on: June 25, 2013 09:14:34 PM
I had these colors lying around after making a leprechaun hat for my nephew, and it brought Loki to mind. So naturally my mind went to coffee. And coffee sleeves. Not really. I just didn't have enough to make anything else.

I even added his cape. But i sewed it down, so it wouldn't get in the way.

Does anybody else see Loki in this, or is it just me?
18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Chunky Bow-ish Cowl on: February 18, 2013 11:10:53 PM
I wanted to make something for a friend, who recently went to cold, cold Chicago. Found these colors in my stash, and man do they go well together.

This is actually the second one i made. After i sent hers off, i had to make one for myself.

19  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby Leprechaun Top Hat on: February 18, 2013 10:55:53 PM
I make hats for my nephew's monthly pictures. Here's his 5-month/March hat. My favorite so far.

20  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Painted Onesies on: February 18, 2013 10:49:09 PM
I wasn't sure where to post these, but i guess this place is as good any...? If it would fit better elsewhere, please let me know.

My sister asks me to paint onesies for my nephew for major holidays. You know, "my 1st Christmas", "my first New Year"... A few days before Valentine's Day, she asked for a Valentine onesie. So i got a 5-pack, and here's what i came up with.

Not my greatest penmanship, but it had to do.

Text to my sister: I'm going to make a "kiss me I'm Irish" one unless you have a better idea.
My sister: But he's not Irish.
(Actually, we are part Irish.)

I probably should have made an Easter one before skipping to April, but i really, really wanted to make a rainy one. April is my favorite.

Aw, aren't they cute together?
This is my other favorite. Nothing to do with holidays or months, just Star Wars. My brother-in-law is a Star Wars fan. My nephew is named Luke. I tend to call him Wukie because i sing to him a lot... And wookiee is spelled with 2 e's, so... Wukiee. Clever, eh?
