221  Re: 2011 DeStash-Along in Craftalongs by bananaleg on: February 21, 2011 11:59:37 AM
I've been wanting to make a needle roll, but i can just not decide which one to go with! Then i saw a little needle roll type thing on etsy... and made my own. It's definitely different, and i whipped it up pretty quickly, so it doesn't exactly look professional... but i definitely wasn't going for professional. I love things that look homemade.
Anyway, my uncle gave me a ton of buttons for Christmas (from his stash to mine), and i love having a piece of him in this--he and my aunt are the ones who taught me to sew as a kid.
The elastic that hooks around the button is a hair tie. I have a big thing of Goody hair ties (rainbow of colors) from a couple years ago... before i chopped all my hair off. But it works perfectly.

That big, old explanation for this:

Oh, and i hadn't trimmed the threads before posting it to my tumblr. I was too excited about it. Smiley

astormorray - I really like that pouch! I haven't quite gotten the hang of lining things yet, so i admire anybody who can.

Kittymom - I love that tea wallet! I've been looking for a good one to try to make, and i really like yours! Super cute!

First of all, today marks one year since my cousin passed away. I have a tattoo of a duck on my ankle in her memory, and i'm obsessed with "good luck charms" that i can carry around with me... so i made a teeny stuffed duck to match my tattoo.

Meet K (named for my cousin, Kierstin) and Gordon Bombay (as in the coach from Mighty Ducks).

I've got one more bag to show:
Taken from my "etsy photoshoot" with my sister:

A couple hats:

This one is so soft and comfy:
This one is just teeny:
My new favorite stitch is alternating rows of knit and ktbl:
My first ear flap hat, i need to add some tassles or something:
Like the purple one, but longer:

I found this amazing herringbone stitch online... <3:

The very first thing i crocheted, ever:

And this is my pride and joy... I started teaching my 5-year-old niece to knit! And she was actually picking it up! It was exhilarating.

I received from PosiTori today!! And i am in love with everything!

First, this was on the box:

Then i opened a little red box marked "extra," and saw...:
...Luna's cork necklace! It's so perfect. I love Luna.

Now, onto the Doctor-y goodness! Allons-y!

Tori took note that i love Daleks and journals!:

And a little close-up:

My very own Tenth Doctor!

And look at his hair! It is perfect.
And just because: Don't mind the pirate look... (Looking for fun/funky ways to keep myself from thinking about my hair while it's growing out.)

Last, but most certainly not least... a TARDIS tote!

A closer look at the TARDIS:
I love tote bags! And of course i love the TARDIS!

You can tell Tori takes pride in her work, and for good reason. Everything is so well-done and beautiful! Of course i'm the wearing the necklace right now, and i can't wait to rock that tote bag!

And one last shot of everything together:

Thank you so much, Tori! <3

You all are doing so well!

I have to admit that i fell off the no-buy wagon real fast... but it's mostly for commissions!

I decided to make a post for all of my bags, so if you would like to see more photos, check that out.

I've been doing pretty well with destashing my flannel.
I made a box bag and lined it with fused plastic bags. It was weird using the plastic bags, especially since i don't know how to line bags... but i like that it holds its shape.

I've been making a bunch of bags.

I originally bought this flannel (forever ago) because it made me think of Fred Astaire.

And then this is the first project bag i tried out. I saw something like it on here, but i forget where. I haven't had a chance to sew some drawstrings... so i'm using a couple of t-shirt strips until i get to that.

I just made this one for a friend last night. Those are lyrics from a 100 Monkeys song.

225  A Bunch of Bags in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by bananaleg on: February 08, 2011 02:43:42 PM
I'm participating in the destashalong, so when i'm not knitting, i'm trying to use up all of my flannel.

This bag, i just made last night for a friend. She likes dark blue, and i have a bunch of dark blue t-shirts in my stash! But the unicorn flannel reminds me of her, so i had to use that for the inside and the straps. And on the outside pocket, i painted some lyrics from a 100 Monkeys song. And then a banana in the corner, partially because of the Monkeys, partially because i'm BananaLeg. Smiley

I received from Shelina today!

Look at her lips and eyelashes! <3

And an extra! The colors are perfect.

Altogether:

Thank you so much, Shelina! I love her, and i'm trying to find the perfect name for her. Smiley

227  My First Mittens! in Knitting: Completed Projects by bananaleg on: January 18, 2011 05:26:42 PM
I've been wanting to make mittens, but i was just scared of attempting thumbs. (If i mess something up, and i'm not sure how to go about fixing it... i tend to take the whole thing apart or just abandon it forever...)
For Christmas, my friend gave me the Vogue Knitting mittens and gloves book. So, no more excuses. I had to figure it out! And woohoo! I did!
I'm confident in my color-changing abilities when it comes to stripes, but i thought for a trial run, i would stick with one color.

228  My Latest Projects in Knitting: Completed Projects by bananaleg on: January 07, 2011 01:06:47 PM
A slouchy hat with random purly bumps:

This lacey scarflet (this is the only picture i got of it before it was given away):

One of my favorites, a bow tie headband. I used the ribbed bow tie from Untangling Knots.

An Army hat for my brother-in-law:

Matching earwarmer for my sister:

I unraveled an old hat i never wore because it was horrible and made this:

Another earwarmer, experimenting with my own patterns now:
I have several more in different yarns and colors and sizes, but no pictures...

Fingerless gloves:
Experimenting with using buttonholes for the thumbs rather than leaving a long slit on the side.

Forget the pattern i used for this:

Just a black beanie:

Slouchy beanie to reward myself for all the knitting i've been doing. First time using 100% wool.
(I taught my brother to knit a week before Christmas. And that scarf behind me is the one he made me for Christmas. He's working on his third project right now! Cheesy)

My brother wanted a hat with Seahawks colors, so i made this one first, but it was too small for him:

Purple and gold (UW Huskies):

A TARDIS dishcloth:

And one last cowl:
Which could also be a headwarmer thing:

229  Hats! And a few earwarmers... in Knitting: Completed Projects by bananaleg on: December 12, 2010 10:41:41 PM
Pay no attention to all of my picture being taken on a couch. I don't have a craft room or even a craft area... I do most of my crafting on the couch. Smiley

The first one is a London Beanie, but with k1p1 ribbing, and not the same color changes... I so love slouchy hats! Made with Bernat Softee Chunky:

No pattern... just made it up as i went. Made with Loops & Threads Charisma (<3). It's broken up into 4 sections. Two of plain stockinette, and two of (what came out looking like) basketweave:

Again, made it up as i went, with some Vanna's Choice:
And to show the stitches better:

Made in moss stitch with Red Heart Super Saver (?). It's a bit wider than i'm used to:

Also made with the Red Heart. I completely made this up as i went. It turned out huge. It might be considered a tam, i don't even know...

And the earwarmers:

And these patterns came from Tara's Knits:
Version 1: Version 2:
I love them! Definitely plan on making more.

230  Tiny Molly Weasley in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bananaleg on: December 12, 2010 10:21:43 PM
I made this tiny Molly Weasley for the One Tiny Stuffie Swap.

With her hair, skirt, and sweater:

With her hat and apron:

The sleeves are my favorite part:

And for kicks... Here she is... nekkid:
