151  Anybody participate in Knit in Public Day?? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by bananaleg on: June 11, 2011 05:37:52 PM
Today, the 11th of June, is Worldwide Knit in Public Day. Did anybody participate?? I looked for events in my area, but i couldn't find any... so my mom, brother, and i just went to a park and knit by ourselves.

I'd just run a race, so i was still gross. And the sun was pretty bright. (In fact, from sitting there for 40 minutes, i got a sunburn on my right shoulder...)

My brother and me:

My mom and me:

If you took part and have photos, please post them here!

152  Just a fat, little yeti... in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by bananaleg on: May 26, 2011 05:42:01 PM
Personally, i'm more of a Bigfoot girl. I wasn't too sure about yetis when they started getting popular... but i've seen some super cute ones lately. (Check out, SpookyPooky, if you haven't.)

Anyway, i wanted to make a Bigfoot, but i didn't have enough brown... So, a yeti, it was.
I completely made it up as i went. This is my first time doing legs like this, since i'm still pretty new to amigurumi.

So, here's my fat, little yeti.

153  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery, 2011 in The Swap Gallery by bananaleg on: May 23, 2011 03:43:22 PM
I recently swapped with kittymom13. You may remember she posted a photo of her yarn scraps a while ago. Well, she sent them to me. Smiley Along with some brownie recipes, an awesome scarf, and two great little mug rugs. Sadly, the weather has been gorgeous here lately, so it hasn't quite been mug weather. But i live in Washington, so the rain can't be far away. Cheesy
The rugs, which i'd asked for:
They've both got the same material on the back, but on the coffee one, it's inside out... WHICH I LOVE!
(I'd just been talking to a friend about how sometimes i like the back of the fabric more than the side you're supposed to see. So, when i opened up the box and saw that, it was so cool.)
The scarf is a really cool orange, with a variegated trim. The orange of the scarf exactly matches the orange in the trim. (Not that i'm ever concerned about clothes matching, but that's pretty awesome.)

And i always post a group shot:

I am incredibly behind on here!

I've fallen off the bandwagon a bit. I bought a couple cuts of fabric (but i've got plans for them!) and some yarn (also have plans)...

Okay, so... you all have been doing AWESOME stuff!
(I apologize in advance for not shouting out to everyone. There's just too much for me to catch up on.)

ysmeine, i love that wood grain material!

clm, cthulus gross me out (anything tentacle-y does), but yours is adorable.
Also, on the note of cthulus... I made one for a personal swap recently.

Also, clm, the scrappy monsters are so awesome!

ScrappySue, will you make me a quilt? Seriously. Yours are always amazing. Love the quillow idea!

All of the ninnis, are adorable. I've got my own monster that i like to make, but i haven't made any in a while.

Other things i've destashed...
kittymom and i did a personal swap recently. She showed one of the cozies i made her, and here's the other:

This jellyfish was for a swap:
I cleaned up the yarn bits after the photo was taken but didn't take another photo...

I made this little bear for my mom for Mother's Day:

With how long my hair is now, i've taken to crocheting headbands. (Because i'm very much sick of my hair.)
(I single crocheted around the outside of the knitted bow, so it came out rounded. Kind of love it that way.)
This is a blue/white swirl sort of thing. I need to remember to actually take good photos.

And i just made a pair of granny square slippers.
12 squares:

And on:

This might show the colors best... my camera is dead, and it's hard to get the colors to show right with my phone...

I received from jcorn today!

He's so cute! And he's got a little bell, and a beard, and a sweet little tail.

It's teeny tiny and so cute!

And because i live in Washington, a University of Washington stamp!

Always gotta post a group shot:

And here's what i sent to her:

A jellyfish. Smiley
I cut the little yarnsies after i took this picture, though.

Here's my hat:
I didn't have enough of the brown to go full snail on it Wink So, it's just a slouchy hat.

Here's another picture:

Awesome! I'm up to 66 squares for the babyghan. I'm so happy with how it's turning out. I just hope my friends like it.

I put the dress on immediately after opening the package, but over my workout clothes, so it was hard to see how it actually fit... It is nice and roomy and perfect for the upcoming summer! I tried it on again after i showered today, and i noticed the pockets, too. I love that they match!

I know this thread is about destashing, but i totally need to go hunting for vintage sheets! I'm going to make myself a dress before summer is over.

kittymom, this picture is mostly for you (i don't see an open granny-a-day thread, so i'll post my progress here). I have 37 squares done for my friend's babyghan. Smiley This isn't necessarily how it will be laid out when it's finished, i just threw them down for the picture. By the way, what's the best way to connect the squares?

P.S. I love your April blocks! And not just because i'm an April baby. I love clouds.

160  The Wills: A Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by bananaleg on: May 03, 2011 12:26:18 PM
I had this idea for a hat inspired by Ron from A Very Potter Musical, but the only red yarn i had was BRIGHT... It turned out fun, but it was just a trial run sort of thing. (I ended up getting other yarn, if you want to see the final Ron hat, feel free to look here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=378661.msg4484894#msg4484894)

I still liked the hat. I put it on my 3-year-old niece, and it looked soooo cute on her little head! She and i sat down to watch the royal wedding (she really wanted to watch a real princess's wedding), and i noticed Prince William's jacket was red and blue... darn near the SAME red and blue i used on my hat! I got pretty excited. Then i noticed gold trimmings on the jacket, and i thought, "I should crochet some gold (yellow) onto the hat!"
I think it really changed the look of the hat.

And after. I'm calling it The Wills.

(She was watching the wedding, hence the intense face.)
