1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Autumn Pixie Hood + Pattern Link on: October 16, 2011 11:02:06 AM

I've been looking for a super cute pixie and I couldn't find a free pattern I liked. So my solution...Make one! This hat is super simple. It's knitted on a pair of strait needles and is essentially a large rectangle until you sew it up.

Pattern Link: http://positori.blogspot.com/2011/10/free-knit-pattern-autumn-pixie-hood.html

For the Autumn Pixie Hood above I used Homespun yarn in Prairie for the brim and Earth for the remaining body. I mixed my yarn colors in the fringe for a more blended look.

For a Red Riding Hood look I used Loops & Threads Charisma yarn in red. It's super chunky and velvety soft. Because the yarn is chunkier than the homespun the hood came out a bit larger even though the pattern is the same stitch count.

I hope you all enjoy the pattern Smiley
If you have a Ravelry Account I'd love to see your finished hat Cheesy

2  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / EXFOLIATE! Pink Barbie Dalek of Doooom! *image heavy* on: September 15, 2011 07:56:02 PM

I wanted to share my Pink Barbie Dalek Dress I wore to Dragon*Con this year.  I'd like to say thanks to Nathaniel C. Propes for his image and Geeks are Sexy.com for featuring me on their site. Cheesy *so happy* Also a thanks to Epbot.com for the photo feature. Smiley My running joke was that (since I'm pink and mostly likely in the Barbie universe) that I would EXFOLIATE! haha...good times. The second time wearing my Dalek I chose to wear it with my pink Haurko wig since I love how comfortable that wig is.

I wanted to showcase my plunger of pretty, pink, bedazzled, doom! I felt the rinestones and the pink paint really brought that prop to life. I had a blast screaming EXFOLIATE at random con-goes and Doctor Who fans alike! While dressed as my obnoxiously pink dalek I met the 7th doctor himself, Mr. Sylvester McCoy!

I was sooo excited! I think I was the first cosplayer to notice him at the bar drinking Gin and Tonic with his handlers. Smiley I watched his Doctor Who panel and I must say he is a pretty funny and witty man. I quite enjoyed it.

I drew my original concept last September. I fell in love with the idea of a Dalek dress, and mine HAD to be pink. I stuck as close to my drawing as I possibly could. Cheesy  My boyfriend did all the wiring for my headband and I LOVE how it lights up in the dark.  The little Dalek ears are just clear plastic shot glasses I bought at the dollar store. Then lightly coated with a semi-transparent spray paint for the LED's to bounce off of.

These are my materials for my Dalek spheres. You can buy them at Joanns and they're already cut in half. I had a total of 28 spheres. The little lips were sanded off and then I primed them with a grey primer, gave them a coat of silver diamond dust, and then a clear gloss.  They turned out really nice.  This blog has a fabulous tutorial on how she made her dress. She shows her process on prepping the spheres and how to get them to hold: http://www.jessieforrester.com/post/9083862684/dalek-costume-tutorial-archive

I am so happy with the outcome of this costume. Cheesy  Sorry about all the photo watermarks, I used these images on my blog as well. Thanks for looking! Smiley

Details of swap:
For this swap you may either make something that is on your partners wists, or make something based on one of their wist items.  For Instance, if your partner has many items that include jellyfish, it is perfectly ok to send them a jellyfish themed item.  It does not have to be exactly like the one on their wists. (although that is perfectly fine too)

Before you sign up, make sure to go through and edit your wists, taking off things you have already received. Also make sure to mark things YOU want to make, not have made for you, as private.

You must have a Wists.com account to join this swap.  You must have a minimum of 70 things in your wists, 50 of them being  craftable items.   However, the more items you have the better your partner will be able to craft for you.  Please restrain from signing up before your wists are full, you have a good 2 weeks to fill and update!

*Important Question* "I use ___ instead of wists, but it works the exact same way. Can I submit this site instead?"  I don't see the harm, please PM me your site so I can approve it.

*Be aware of the comments section on wists, someone might add something and you go to make it, but didnt notice in their comments that they would only want that item in a different color.

Well be using the point system for this swap.  Youll have to send your partner at least 5 points worth of items. If you'd like a larger swap you may negotiate that with your partner. Extras and spoilage are perfectly fine.

Large= 3 points
Medium=2 points
Small=1 point

By Time

Important note: Remember to take pictures of your items before you send. If you are unable to for any reason please PM your partner to let them know. It is not a requirment to post pictures but please be curtious and post pictures in a timely manner, your partner works hard on what they send.

8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi 10th Doctor! on: February 17, 2011 03:29:15 PM
It took every once of self resistance I had not to post this right away.  This was made for the Doctor Who Round 5 Swap and I didn't want to spoil the surprise for my partner Cheesy

I created all of the pattern myself.  Kinda made it up as I went along.  I think he came out so cute! It just means I have to make one for myself now!

I think his little sideburns are my favorite part!

Thanks for looking!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / How about a Wists Swap? on: February 15, 2011 10:55:39 AM

Anyone interested in doing a Wists themed swap?  You'd be crafting items from your partners wists or inspired by things in your partners wist.

I imagine this would fun! I haven't seen one of these pop up in a while and I'd be happy to host it. Smiley  Sign ups would be soon if enough people were interested.  I'm hoping for send outs to be around end March-April.

Anyone else be interested?

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My First Cable Scarf! (link to pattern) on: February 10, 2011 09:46:57 AM

I only learned to knit about a month ago, and I decided to take a stab at cables! I had a stash of chunky yarn lying around and I figured it was time for a new scarf. I used Kiersten Brandt's Backbone Bookmark Pattern (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/backbone-bookmark) and thought it would look awesome as a scarf. I used size 11 needles and the scarf ended up being a good 6" across. It's Perfect! Not bad for my first stab at cables! I also wasn't sure if I liked my yarn choice after I started knitting with it, but it's really starting to grow on me.  I used two skeins of Premier Yarn's Serenity Chunky Yarn and it's super soft and warm  Cheesy
