HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Little boy boxer's Pillow!

(I have no idea where I should really be putting this, but since its a pillow now, I'll post in home sweet home.) I work in the children's department at Kohls, and lots of parents like to take things out of packaging to look at it, and then leave it like that. We mark it down and sell them for much cheaper individually, but no one buys them because they think something terrible happened to them to make them so cheap. So we get these socks and underwares and other packaged things floating around. (Not.. literally 'floating'. That would be much more difficult to handle) So I bought these on my lunch break yesterday for 50 cents. (Plus 15% off employee discount, woo!) And just made them into a little pillow before I go back to work. Its probably not the most origonal idea ever on Craftsters, but I think its still pretty cute. I didn't stuff it all too great, but I think the lumpyness will go down. Its also got the cutest little stash pocket now! I have no idea how to seal off the other end of that.. hole, thing.. without it looking wierd. I used clear thread, but it still shows. There are also little tiny socks at my work that I want to do something with, but I can't come up with any good ideas yet... Thanks for looking!

POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / World of Warcraft Hearthstone pendants

"A Hearthstone is a device used to teleport oneself to any home place (an inn, location set by the player) in the world. All characters receive a Hearthstone upon creation." -WoWwiki I did modify them a little bit from what they look like in the game, they're darker and have cracks in them, and are more "stone" shaped than flat oval shaped. (They also have tiny finger prints in them that show up craaazzy well in these pictures! You cant tell that much in person, honest!) The smaller ones (Stickers says "Your skill in reading has increased by one point" In case you were wondering, hee) 'Nother picture with quarters for size reference And the bigger ones I made! I'm wondering what to put them on. I like them on a necklace, but my sister thinks they're too bulky or too hard to see, and thinks I should make keychains. Whats your opinion? (And, is having a themed material, example; Leather strip for a necklace, too much? What would be better?) Thanks for looking!

KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / A completely boring and unexciting scarf!
on: December 06, 2007 04:14:20 PM
But its my first ever completed knitting project, so I'm proud of myself, ha! Modeled by my annoyed kitty- and a semi-action shot- I actually taught myself how to knit almost 2 years ago, but messed up all of my earlier projects to the point of giving up on them. The scarf is grey, cheap, itchy acrylic, its about 5 feet long. It actually... (Prepare yourself to be confused by my lack of proper knitting terms!) every other rectangle is 14 rows of knit stitch, then 12 rows of knit, and in between is 2 rows of purl stitch. (I started the scarf to get a hang of purl stitch without getting frustrated too much) and Im proud of myself for the ruffly bits at the ends, heee. *Skips off to draws a picture of it with crayons to put on the fridge*

Halloween / Halloween Costumes / assassins creed: Altaïr

I was just wondering if theres anyone out there in the big ol' world of Craftsters thats planning on making the costume of Altaïr from the not-yet-released game of Assassin's Creed. http://www.tech2.com/media/images/2007/Jun/img_6943_assassins_creed.jpg http://userimage.gamespot.com/images/blog/0/8/20145074842425481249105501752080/blog.jpg http://www.ncsx.com/2006/102306/Tuesday/assassins_creed_le_statue_fx.jpgI'm the proud owner of a super-nerd boyfriend (lol) and we were just casually talking about Renaissance Faire costumes for April. (I put this here, because it would be cool to finish by Halloween, I doubt I will, but its possible!) And he said it would be so cool to be this character, so I started sketching what would need to be made. I'm not too concerned about how complicated the outfit itself will be, its just a tunic, hood and fabric belt, pretty much. But there are smaller aspects to it, like the Bolt holder on the shoulder, the detail in the leather belt, getting that high-waisted of a belt to stay, even when its holding all that stuff, and the plate metal bracer on his left arm (not even gonna do the dagger in the bracer; for those of you who dont know the character, he cut off his ring finger so a retractable blade could come out when he made a fist) So if theres anyone else planning this out, I'd love to do a sort of craft-along, lol! Or if you have any tips for working with leather (never have myself) or fake weapons/ metal armor, that would be fantastic!

ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Button/ Pin swap?
on: September 03, 2007 10:09:41 PM
I just had this idea, and saw the Button Addict swap thread and was like OH GOODY, but it was for sewing on buttons, but the decorative... pinny-buttons, lol. I searched it, too, and couldnt find anything. (Let me know if I'm missing it!) I know theres a decent number of us on here that have our own button presses, are there enough of us in that group who are willing to do a swap? If there are, I'd really like to do a multi-swap partner sort of thing. I looove some of the stuff people put on Etsy, like the cutesy chibi things. I'm assuming some people have different mediums for their buttons, self designed images, fabric, ect. I personally make buttons out of recycled books and mangas... Let me know if you're out there, button press owners!

CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Bats Day dress
on: September 03, 2007 03:04:57 PM
Bats Day is a huuuge goth meetup at Disneyland. I loove disneyland, I've had a pass for years, I go alllll the time, even my boyfriend works there, lol. (I'm more of a metal head than I goth, but I do love dressing up) The dress I made isn't much, but I still like it a lot. I wore a corset over it, which I did not make. I loosely based the dress off of another dress I made using this tutorial- http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=31949.0 Its pretty much that dress, with a black underskirt. I should have pinned up the top skirt, but sort of made this one at the last minute, since the origonal black one didnt work out. (Measured something wrong, had to salvage it to make the underskirt) This is the only real full body shot I have, a friend took some, but I dont think she's going to ever remember to send them to me (There is one on some blog that shows my back pretty good, though, lol. But the only good thing about the back of the dress was my wings tattoo shows) Heres one of me sitting on the floor in Haunted Mansion (My shoes were killing me, so I constantly sat down, lol) I know its not much, but I like how it came together with my corset and tights. A lot of people complemented me on it, someone even came up, stomped her foot and went "Beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice!"
