1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester on: January 18, 2014 11:36:37 AM
I made these Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester pictures for my sister-in-law per request. I love the way they turned out. Cheesy It's mixed-media (watercolor, crayons, sharpie, scrapbooking paper) 5X7 and totally awesome (imho). Hope you enjoy them!

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / get the balance right on: June 18, 2012 12:59:38 AM

Male, female, transgendered, gay, straight, bisexual, of any color or creed.. we are all made up of the same matter, yet equality is still an issue.
I dislike fighting and prefer to find common ground. If we're simply not going to agree, at least we can try to understand each others views.

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change the way you think about it."

Watercolor, crayon, acrylic, and marker

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / work button into wearable art!! (day of the dead skull <3) on: June 28, 2010 04:25:16 PM

I wasn't sure where to put this... as it is more art than anything, but at the same time, I took a leftover button from work (ask me what's new!) and turned it into this adorable button for my boyfriend. You can't really tell in this photo, but the skulls are blushing!! I just drew them out on watercolor paper, colored them with crayons, cut them out, and mod podge it, with some scraps of groovy paper, onto the button. I hope he likes it.
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / PurplePeopleEater ColoringPage on: June 06, 2010 06:22:16 PM
A friend of mine asked me to make a coloring page for his zine... and this is what came out of my brain.

Please feel free to print and color... and show it to me when you're done! Cheesy
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Annie 1982 (picture heavy!!!) on: October 13, 2009 12:27:20 PM
First things first... my camera sucks, but this project does not!

One of my all-time favorite movies is the 1982 Annie. As a curly-haired freckled child, I suppose I saw her as some sort of hero in a way? I'm not sure, but this movies still makes me happy every time I see it.

I randomly doodled an Annie like character in my sketchbook one day, and decided I really wanted to do an Annie painting. After attempting to sketch out the drawing on canvas, I scraped that idea and went with a method I've been playing with for the past couple of weeks, drawing out the image in sharpie and coloring it in crayons. Let me just say here, I love coloring in crayons! Annie and her speech bubble sat around for a while until I could think of what to put them on.

The idea came to play around with "The sun will come out tomorrow" and my creative mind wen to work. The "rain" and "clouds" are just cut pieces of paper (from vintage McCalls magazines) that I used sharpie over. I actually added the sharpie on top of the Mod Podge, as well as crayon!

I am so completely happy with the result. AND- it also plays homage to the Little Orphan Annie comic strips...

Which wasn't completely intentional... but I can use it as an excuse to explain the eyes! Smiley

Anyway, time to sushh as I picspam the rest of this...

(before I "fixed" the clouds)

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Crayola Zombies IN LOVE on: October 04, 2009 03:40:59 PM
So I decided to combine my last two art projects to create these two adorable love zombies.

The zombies are drawn on watercolor paper, inked in sharpie, colored with crayons and cut out. The background is an old map and an old letter. The hearts are origami paper. I painted the frames and colored some red crayon "blood" afterwords. I really like the way these turned out.

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / CRAYOLA ZOMBIE!!!! Artwork for my nephew's 9th bday! YAY! - UPDATED PHOTO! :) on: September 29, 2009 07:31:28 PM
So my nephew is also awesome and likes zombies. He also likes "cute" things so I figured I would make him a cute zombie for his bday.

I took a "grandfather" poem plaque and did art over it. The zombie, speech bubble, and buildings are sharpie on watercolor paper COLORED IN CRAYONS! Smiley The background is an old letter (from 1918 or something) and an old map. I have the zombie saying "meow" because... it's cute and I think my nephew would get a total kick out of it. Smiley

Here it is before mod podge...

and some close up pictures...

I hope he likes it! Thanks for looking! Smiley
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / of death and ghosts - day of the dead artwork :) - now with before picture on: September 27, 2009 10:42:37 AM

I had this idea in my head and in my sketchbook for a while... and I'm so pleased with the way it turned out. I drew the skull and ghost on watercolor paper, inked them in sharpie, colored them with CRAYONS, cut them out, pasted them to some scrapbooking paper and glued them to some hideous 1970's frames (that once held rotting photos of butterflies), painted the frames white/silver and was done with it. I might add some glitter later. Smiley

Here's what it looked like before:

And here are what they look like after! Smiley

(it says- "WOO-" on the tail of the ghostie coming out of the skull's mouth)

Thanks for looking.

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Mixtape Monster CD Envelope Cases on: September 20, 2009 10:48:31 PM

I made these for a "mixtape party" a few months ago. I didn't have a tape deck, but I had cds... so I decided to make cd cases and paste little mixtape monsters I drew on them. Cheesy I drew out the mixtapes, made a few photocopies, colored them all with crayons (each one was different) and pasted them onto cd envelope cases I created out of scrapbooking paper. Smiley

Sorry the images are so terrible. I took them with my cell phone right before I gave them all away.

Here is the front of one of my favorites:

And the back with the tracklisting. I actually made three different cds to give away and made four copies of each cd... twelve cds total! Cheesy

Thanks for looking! Cheesy
