What was this painted on? The acrylics are so smooth. Nice job and love the style!

This was done an archies watercolor board. It's actually watercolor and crayon, only the gold is acrylic. Smiley

I really love this!

Thanks! It's probably one of my favorite pieces I've done! Cheesy

This is actually a re-do of some art I made YEARS ago. My style has changed and my art sills have improved, so I wanted to recreate this piece. I really love how it turned out. It started with the idea that pigeons looked like birds in suits and looked weird to me without arms, so I wanted to make a pigeon with arms... and so I made a pigeon a Hindu god! Cheesy

Watercolor, crayon, acrylic paint and prismacolor marker.

I love this.  I'm totally singing in my head now too.  "Oh please won't you be, please won't you be my raptor."

I wrote on the back of it, "Please won't you let me eat your neighbor?" lol.

So, my best friend since middle school likes raptors. She used to chase me around making raptor noises. Sadly, she says she can't make a raptor noise anymore... but she still loves them. I decided to try my hand at drawing a raptor for her. I've never tried drawing a dinosaur before, and she's quite the expert. I was just going to put him a suit, but then I thought, "Why not put him in a Mr. Rogers sweater?" and thus he was born.

Watercolor, crayon and sharpie.

I made this for one of my long-time friends! I can't wait for her to receive it! I normally add crayon on top of my watercolored art, but this time, I just left it as-is. Cheesy

Technique-wise, how do you apply the crayon?  On top of the watercolor?  Or do you use the crayon first so that the waterproof wax resists the paint in strategic locations?  Both?

I apply the watercolor first and then apply the crayon over top of it. I've tried it the reverse way, and the crayon resists the watercolor too much and you don't get even saturation.

I made this stationery to write a letter to one of my pen pals. I really like the way it turned out, and I hope she does too!
