1  Lost themed anniversary present? in Needlework: Discussion and Questions by starwarspunk on: March 02, 2011 12:02:35 PM
When Lost came back from its ridiculously long hiatus in 2009, I had to discuss the episode with someone.  Since none of my friends watched the show, and my family was unable to watch it that night, I resorted to texting a semi-friend from college who graduated the year before since he was the only person I knew that would be watching the episode.  I texted "Faraday<3" and after that throughout the entire episode (and season) we kept the conversation going until we eventually started dating.

So thanks to Daniel Faraday and his awesomeness, I will be celebrating my two year anniversary coming up.  In order to fully thank him, I wanted to immortalize his name ("Faraday <3") into an embroidery hoop for my boyfriend's present, however I am not sure how I should do it.

I am considering either plainly stitching his (Faraday's) name (heart included) or stitching it inside the Dharma sign similar to below.

I do enjoy simplicity because the focus is on the word, but at the same time I do like the Dharma sign too.  Thoughts?

3  Dragon of Excellence! in Needlework: Completed Projects by starwarspunk on: February 28, 2011 04:20:02 PM
Some guy at work found out that I enjoyed cross stitching and asked me to make him something, so I agreed.

This conversation took place in 2009.  Lol.

After procrastinating, moving twice and experiencing new sets of roommates, the dragon is finally finished!  Ironically I despise dragons but i will admit... I'll miss staring at this thing for long hours into the night.

Finished size: 11x14
39 colors
14 Aida
106x145 stitches

by the way, in reference to a previous thread on here... I am pretty sure the chinese symbol says "dragon"  Cheesy

Here is where I was on January 18th.

Here I am today!

Yay for progress (and better lighting)!  The only bad news is... this project is due on TUESDAY the 15th.  Although I have definitely stepped it up, I still need to complete the border, the rest of the fireball, the rest of the head, the gaps in the body, lots and lots of blue accents throughout the entire piece, and lots more!!!  I am ridiculously nervous because I am not entirely sure I will get it done before Tuesday.  I am making this for a coworker and he has been nice enough to give me so much time (lol I started this in 2009) so I really don't want to ask for more.  Ahhhh late night stitching...

Here is my 2010 big project that I am making for a friend.  I told him it will be finished by February of 2011 (... if all goes well...).  It is 11x14 and ironically I absolutely despise dragons.  Smiley

December 16th

As of January 4th

Hopefully next update, it will have a head.
