1  Re: Witch/Wicca/Pagan Swap Round 7 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by vala_amaris on: July 14, 2008 09:30:27 AM
I know!  I keep checking the status on the USPS website and it says the same thing as the day it was mailed Sad  I hope it gets there SOOOOON.

Here's the pics of what Corwin sent me.  Please excuse the quality, every battery, new charged, recharged, etc.. my camera keeps saying "Battery Low" and shuts off.  So I had to use my cellphone.  If I can get better pics later I will repost them.

Group shot Smiley

Yummy smelling Cream

Fuse bead owl kit, my 5 yr old is SO stealing this.

and probably this too, a felt heart kit.

A little fairy house.

Card with amethyst attached.

Third Eye decorated Oracle tin (Altoid tin.)

Inside of the "Third Eye Tin"  a really cute idea!

Lilith decorated photo album.

Green man small tote bag.

Thank you!  It's a really sweet package Smiley

3  There's still hope for the 22 year old blanky. in Quilting: Completed Projects by vala_amaris on: December 23, 2007 10:44:55 AM
I am by NO means a professional or even advanced quilter. However, I do know how to assemble the simpler designs.  Well honestly, I could probably do more advanced but man you guys around here have WAY more patience than me.

Anyway,  meet Pooh blanky.  Can't see Pooh?  No that's because my youngest step-daughter now age 19 stole her older sister's baby blanket as a child and has been drooling on it ever since.  The eldest is 22 so yeah, it's endured a LOT of hugs, drool, snuggles and sometimes she'd wash it.

I recovered it seven years ago and she literally wore off the fabric so you may see a few layers here:

The flash actually made it look better than it really is.  It's YUCKY.  Don't worry this is AFTER I washed it so at least it's clean. haha

Now, Alex's favorite color is purple and she loves skulls and skeletons and Halloween (I think after 10 years I've rubbed off on her.)  She asked me to save her blanky again this year.  The theme was "All grown up on the outside, still a little girl in the middle."  Trust me, this suits her, she fully admits to liking kid stuff and being a Daddy's girl.  (Again rubbing off. LOL)

So meet new blanky with old blanky quilted in.

I didn't follow a pattern, I just kept sewing until it was original blanky size.  Last time I recovered it in jersey material and she asked for it again this time.  So the back and the bias are jersey and the front is cotton.  When I do blankets I fold over the back onto the front to make the bias.  It's easier than making or sewing on "real" bias.  Folks, I went all out on this for me.  I ironed open seams, I zigzagged over every seam and even machine quilted it, to the best of my abilities.

Long story short, she can't be separated from it for more than a day so I did it all yesterday from 9am to 10pm, very few breaks. LOL

Alex lit up when she saw it.  I was going to wrap in a fake quilt with super ugly material but she spied it too soon.  I was a little worried I'd diverted from the Pooh theme but she really likes it so I think we're OK.  I told her about my idea of growing up but being a little girl on the inside and got a really big hug Smiley

So it's not perfect but still a success!  I find jersey hard to quilt, it stretches as you sew and I don't have any special sewing feet, so... yeah.  But she doesn't care, she's already taken it to show off at her Mom's Christmas party and to keep overnight. LOL

frosty772 sent me some sweet pink embossing powder.  Thank you!

Then another package from Mlsocci74, sweet!

Some close-ups of the coolness.  These are right up my alley.  Good stalking!

Thank you both so much, totally made a crappy snow day into a great mail day Smiley

Props to mezo, I tried on the calimetry (will I ever learn to spell that?)  It fits perfect over the tip of my ears to keep them toasty.  I almost always wear my hair up and in Maine, warm ears in the winter are a definite plus!

Wow, it is really hard to look awesome right before bedtime. LOL   Especially when you're trying to take a pic of the back of your own disheveled head of hair.

vala - those are hysterical!  I might make some for my friend for xmas if you don't mind.  She'd laugh her behind off!! Grin

Do you think Hallmark would hire me?  LOL

And feel free the others were:

I meant to say "Know where I can get one?" on the inside but said "find" again by mistake. Oops.

OK, I HAVE to post a couple of the unorthodox cards I sent mezo, they're not for her, they're to send to other people.  I labeled them "Frienemy cards, WARNING: may be offensive and lame."

I think I sent 5 different ones all together.

See this is why I think I'm hysterical and other people think I'm just plain weird.  I think they might be right!  But weird is good.  My husband says I'm eccentric. LMAO

I was writing a PM to mezo when all of a sudden Fed-ex pulled up.  So I quickly sent the PM and answered the door wearing my stunning pink Hello Kitty Candy pajamas.

This is what was inside the box that took me about two seconds to open and I used teeth.  Hey, I was excited Wink

It took every ounce of self control I have to take those two pics.  Unwrapped presents around me are a big no-no.  I may be 32 but gosh darn it, I like my presents Smiley

My absolute FAVORITE!  I laughed out loud and showed my husband.  We agree with the sentiment whole heartedly and I am placing this somewhere close to my crafting areas to remind myself.  F*ck Raynauds indeed!

Stickers!

OK Kerri, calm down, pull back and take a full shot of all the loot.  There's an amazing piece of baby blue and brown loose knit in the background.  I can think of a million ways to wear it and use it.

A wristcuff and calimetry ! I spelled that wrong.  Anyway, I wanted both so YAY!!

Not 1, not 2 but 3 blank journals to feed my addiction.  I am addicted to journals and notebooks.  I love paper.

You may have noticed a baggie of dog treats.  Here's Kooshka looking for one when I opened the bag, she could smell them but didn't know where they were.

Oh here they are!

You want me to play dead?  For a treat?  Do I look like ho to you?  OK, I'll lay down but that's it!  She's a princess.

Thank you mezofoprezo!  It's all ME and I love every bit of it Wink

Kooshka says rowf, which I think means "Give me more doggy treats."  She's kind of spoiled that way. LOL

Please ignore the various cables and mess, that's my laptop stuff and it's the maid's day off.

The rest of us (me anyway) think it is quite fair -  We like previews Grin

How's this for fair?  A teaser right in the gallery!  Shocked

Not one pair but TWO!

Sansa made me awesome knucks so I can craft during the colder months.  I have Raynaud's Syndrome and my hands and fingers are extremely sensitive to cold.  I usually give up crafting from about now until March.  Now I don't have to!

Sansa, you rock!

Pic of one of each.  Pink I think is for colder days and blue is for lighter wear.  They're both gorgeous.

AND here's my second attempt at the Simply Stencil Spray contrivant sent me.  I've almost got it right. LOL  Good thing 4 year old's don't notice you draw swirlies to cover boo-boos.  She designed this herself by picking out the font and the shark, plus she drew the eye.

Here's the model now:

The color doesn't leak under the stencil, just the moisture from the spray so it stays looking wet around the edges. hmmm... She has a lot of blank shirts to play with. LOL.

The directions say "light" spritzing but darn, the black squirts out like a super soaker gun.  I might try spraying it in a cup and very lightly dabbing it on.
