1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / a great sewing machine for a beginner that will grow with me? on: January 08, 2012 01:08:31 PM
I had a sewing machine; I know how to use one but it didn't have a guide and couldn't stitch through more than 3 layers of woven cotton...also its TINY.
I initially learned on a juki.
What machine would you guys have chosen as your first sewing machines?
Also has to ve decently priced. Nothing too crazy...I say $300 max
2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: sonic the hedgehog Amigurumi on: January 08, 2012 12:43:28 AM
Thanks guys! The compliments are much appreciated.
@feewee it wasn't too hard, if you don't crochet its pretty easy to pick up. I'm a self taught "needleworker" & I say that cause I knit & crochet. I want to pick up embroidery next. Smiley

A recent FO I've done for a co worker compliments of blogspot.com's wolfdreamer. Pattern was pretty simple and opened my eyes to different ways in putting ami's together.I was worried about his head when I was making it cause it seemed so big & flat but it all worked out great. I'm not too good at faces unless the eyes are circles so I didn't do fantastic but he turned out alrigh, yeah?

thanks for looking!

I'm definitely using this as a stash buster. Id flip through the thread but I'm exploring on my phoneany idea on the best way to join these burgers together without going mad? I think I might do larger puffs 4-5 puffs make it a couch cover.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help!! Problems knitting in the round on: December 05, 2011 11:20:18 PM
I mostly use the long tail c/o or the cable cast on (you have to be careful with that because when knitting in the round with that one you have to slip the stitch on the right needle to the left and k2tog so that helps close the gap where you joined the circle, so there for you've gotta cast on one extra stitch that the pattern calls for)
I learned with the slip st. c/o method but it's so hard for me to work with cause working the first row is always so tight.
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / crafts for toddlers, New ideas? on: September 30, 2011 01:23:51 PM
Anyone have ideas for crafts specifically for 2-3  year olds?
So far I've come up with three:
1. A tweaked version of Martha stewarts glittery pumpkins
2. Turkeys made from Styrofoam balls, paint and feathers.
3. Not very original but hand made cards

those are just holiday ideas i want something interesting me and my son can make aside from water colors and all that
 ideas are greatly appreciated Smiley
