1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How do you make a self-tie bow tie? on: September 29, 2007 12:00:40 PM
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to make a bow tie. I have made the ready-tied sort before (for my boyfriend for prom), but my brother would like some 'proper' bow ties to where to formal at university.

I know the rough shape, and I prefer the look of the thistle over the bat wing, but I have no idea what measurements to use.

Any help would be great.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Unusual Summer Coat on: June 06, 2007 12:06:52 PM
I made this out of the spare material from my prom dress. It's a little strange but my friends seem to like it. It turned out a little big as I used the pattern I made for my boyfriends coat http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=174112.msg1792292#msg1792292 so it came out a little big, hence the lacing on the back is pulled rather tight.
I have replaced the pins in the front with one black frog closure.

Sleeve Detail

It has little thumb holes in the sleeve/armwarmer things.  Wink
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Kiddy Material Corset :) on: June 06, 2007 11:41:39 AM
I made this corset out of a piece of kids fabric I bought ages ago for my Child's Clothing Textiles Coursework, but I changed my mind. It only used 25cm!!

The front is held together with 4 large and 3 medium safety pins. I'm not keen on hooks and eyes and they take ages to sew on

The eyelets took me the longest. I think if I make another one, I might make it a little larger so the gap is smaller.

I wore this at the weekend with a black Victorian 3/4 sleeve top and got lots of compliments. I just happened to have a black top on when I finished lacing it in the middle of the park and I thought I'd try it on
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Trench Coat for Boyfriend on: June 03, 2007 02:43:59 AM
I made this for my boyfriend using a pattern I drafted from a female friends coat which then needed quite a lot of alterations particularly with length. He wears it all the time, even when his mum tells him to take it off. Excuse his dazed look, he doesn't like photos  Smiley

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Chequered Rucksack on: June 03, 2007 01:15:27 AM
I just finished a custom order for my friend Rose:

What do you think? (I charged her £10 + materials excluding thread)]

EDIT: There is a front pocket and a main pocket with the zip running over the top. The zips are both pink to match the embroidery

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Wrap Coat (with funny hems) on: March 12, 2006 08:40:27 AM
Hi, I made this about a month ago and as well as displaying the piccies, I wanted to get some opinions on what I could do if I make another one (add buttons/ a tie or something etc). I like all my products to unique so don't want to make one identical.

PS. You probably can't see but the hems are the opposite way to normal, showing on the outside not inside
